Stayed here for a couple of nights and wasn't overly impressed. Staff were uninterested and not very welcoming and there was absolutely no atmosphere therefore not a great place to meet people. It seemed like there was quite a lot of long term residents which maybe had something to do with it. Rooms were ok, beds comfy however I wouldn't...

Thanks so much for leaving a review. I'm really surprised that you feel that our staff are 'uninterested', most of our reviews are all great about our team. The bar hosts activities throughout the week and we get many people telling us that they think this hostel is great to meet friends in, especially as most of our guests are...

Not a good hostel if you want to sleep. Rooms are very small and unclean. Parties all the time in the 1st floor bar. Good if u want to party but bad if u want to sleep. Only one washer working! Location could be better though inside the free tram zone. Receptionworkers not professionals and are lost. Checkin lasted 1...

Hi there, thanks so much for leaving a review. I'm surprised to hear that your check-in took an entire hour, that must be a record! We do have international interns working with us as part of their education for their degree, they bring a great culture to the hostel and most guests seem to love our staff! We do have...

I had been staying at Normads for over 2weeks spending quite some money to stay there and I have never experienced such RUDE staff members, my friend had to be let out of hospital today and she had to be kept hydrated, I went down stairs to get some water was advised they did not have any but the machine...

Hello there, sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience here at Nomads Melbourne. I have spoken to all of our staff that you dealt with that night. You were offered on several occasions a pint of tap water for your friend. We also have a self-catering kitchen on the ground level where you can pour yourself a drink. There are...

Great location for a hostel, however that was about the extent of how good the hostel is overall. First impressions of the hostel when you walk in was good, however when you approach the front desk you are rudely directed to the self check-in station, which you basically have to immediately repeat again straight after when you are paying for...

Very good hostel in good location. Fun vibe with bar and friendly staff happy to help. Clean dorm room and Melbourne is my favourite Australian city by far! Make sure you visit the street art in the laneways and many rooftop bars with cheap drinks. Stayed here in this particular hostel 2 nights and would come back again

Perfectly good hostel. Clean dorm. Good bar and social activities for solo travellers. Good showers. Some working people as with all city hostels. Free wifi limited to certain times. Kitchen very small.

Thanks so much for leaving a review! Our kitchen is a little on the smaller side, however, we do give out food in the bar Monday-Thursday, we have the Queen Vic markets directly behind us and we are surrounded by cafes and restaurants. We really hope that you get the chance to stay with us again soon!

Room was pretty dirty, although beds were clean enough and comfortable. Main issue was the bathrooms which were usually pretty dirty with wet floors and obviously not checked/cleaned frequently at all. Good location and sociable bar area if you're looking ti meet people in Melbourne.

Stayed here for one night before an organised tour in September 2016. The hostel's pretty easy to find and centrally located. Check-in was pretty quick and there's a lift or you can take the stairs. The rooms are a good size - mine was ensuite and had 3 bunk beds, one of which was a double bed. The bedding was...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
