I have stayed here a few times over the years. Usually for an overnighter in Melbourne. This time I had an international flight leaving early the next day, so didn't need any hassles with check-in or check-out. As usual, Somerset proved perfect for a short stay. Comfortable and very convenient. Easy to recommend.

In terms of the amenities, hotels are much the same - some have a little more, some have a little less - some are newer, some not so. The best thing about any hotel is the service from the staff. The staff at Somerset on Elizabeth are welcoming and friendly - its the little things that make a difference to...

Great location for the nearby trams (free travel area), trains, shops and restaurants, excellent and helpful staff, and well appointed rooms. Wifi is free and works well. We did not go for the breakfast option, but with so many nearby restaurants/cafes, and very adequate kitchen and large fridge, we didn't think that was necessary.

Older style units, nice and comfortable, very clean. Ideal location, right on the 'free tram' zone. Short walk to the Mall. Staff very friendly and most obliging . Despite being in the heart of the city, you are not subject to the noise of inner city. The spa was great, really warm.

We love this fully furnished apartment and its centralized location. Walking distance from many halal restaurants like Nelayan, Mamak, Little Ipoh, Chilli padi. Walking distance to Flinder St station and several supermarkets like Metro and Coles. Walking distance to Queen Victoria Market. It is also within the free tram zone. This property is highly reccomended.

reception staff were always pleasant even under trying conditions, and valet parking is the icing on the cake where Melbourne is concerned, sure we might have found somewhere cheaper to park, but not as convenient. our apartment was well furnished, perhaps a little tired around the edges but still worth of its 4 star rating

The staff were super friendly and very helpful, nothing seemed to be a trouble to them. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The only minor issue was the noise from the street below through the closed window. .

Highly recommend the Somerset as a place to stay in Melbourne, one of the best. Apartment style room, quite spacious. Large lounge area, big bathroom, kitchen with microwave, fridge, cooktop, cutlery and crockery. Washing machine in bathroom ( though there wasn't a dryer). Large separate bedroom with a King size bed. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Room was very clean,...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
