Great spot for a couple of days stopover in Melbourne CBD. Room compact but very clean, exactly what we expected for the price. Cafes and restaurants plentiful on Little Bourke Street. Like tapas? Try Movidas. Short walk to Railway station and Skybus terminal. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Stored our luggage as had late flight out.

This hotel offered more by very friendly and helpful desk service, a lovely little breakfast room with plenty of great food, and convenience. We stayed overnight after arriving in from overseas. The Ibis is a two minute walk away from the Southern Cross Station and the Spencer Street DFO. As far as luxury goes this place certainly could do with a re-vamp. The room was small with shower over the bath, furniture dated. As we were travelling overseas and stayed here for one night only we were not terribly fussed, but,... More

This hotel is very close to Southern Cross Station. So a good location arriving by train, bus or sky bus from the airport. Very friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, easy to walk to main area of CBD or trams are constant and free for the CBD. Lots of places to eat nearby.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
