When arrived at hotel staff wanted photo ID. because flying we did not have photo ID Reservations Manager then proceeded to give lecture about hotel rules. We have new rule, never stay at this hotel again. Nothing in any documents specified photo ID was requires. Rooms are out back of an old hotel via dirty passage way that needs attention.... More

This was not my first choice for accommodation in Melbourne, but due to a lack of reasonably priced alternatives (<$200/ night) I booked - at a considerable premium to the usual deal prices available- to stay here over a busy 4 day period in Melbourne. The reviews gave me hope that it would be reasonable and certainly the convenient and central... I recently flew to Melbourne with overseas student to show him around for a few days. I decided instead of staying in a five star hotel, I would opt for cheaper as we really only needed a place to sleep and shower hence the savings went to the tourist things. I had a courtyard room and I found it great... More

This would be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world for the price. We paid around $130 for a standard room. The room was dirty with dust everywhere and stains on the carpet. The TV is mounted on a side wall so your only option was to watch it from the bed on a... More

Great location and our room was clean and everyone was very helpful. Only downside was room was very small. Given we had 2 suitcases not much room and only one chair witch had a suitcase on it. So if only just using for sleeping it's great.

Loved it, across from train station, huge family rooms, clean, comfy beds and pillows. Cold fridge although a bit cold froze our drinks and wasn't on when we arrived, that's probably why. Close to everything, lovely staff.Very quiet.

Hubby stayed here for business last year so as we were only in Melbourne for one night, thought this place would be OK. Wrong! He went off to see clients, I went to the NGV and tried to check in mid-afternoon which is when I encountered Georgia at Reception. She acknowledged our booking but because it was made in my... The hotel is located on Spencer Street and is a 10 minute walk from the Skybus. I don't mind a walk, and their are many tram stops nearby. The room I had was large and very comfortable for my stay. The breakfast can be purchased with vouchers depending on your requirements, however I found some cafes nearby that gave me... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
