We loved the central location, which gave us easy access to trams, city shopping, dining and activities. Service was great at all touchpoints and the attention to detail made us feel like they really cared. The complimentary breakfast was fresh (always good to see sourdough in the bread selection) and we enjoyed the comfy bed and pillows.

Well priced, clean rooms and efficient service. Second stay at hotel- offers value for money. Views over flagstaff gardens. Helpful staff and some nice touches like flavoured water in lobby, good selection of newspapers etc. In house movies were a bit expensive and toiletries could be upgraded. Room service menu limited for vegetarians - could have done more healthy options.

We booked two stays about a week apart (23-25 & 30-31 March ). On arrival in the first room we immediately noticed that it hadn't been vacuumed under chairs or tables and had dirty curtains. Cabinets and other wooden items were all damaged as were the walls and the shower surround. There was a huge gap under the door with...

We cannot fault this hotel. Best breakfast we had in Australia with outstanding staff. Lovely room overlooking the gardens which was so clean and a joy to go back to after each day out. Free newspapers as well. Will definitely go back there.

The hotel was in a good location opposite Flagstaff gardens, near Victoria Market and trams, trains (subway). Most things were a short tram ride away, there were quite a few restaurants in walking distance particularly down Hardware Lane. The room was nice and a reasonable size with three of us (with a child on a folding bed). There was a...

This is a very modern hotel with lots of amenities. Our room was comfortable and the internet worked very well. The morning breakfast buffet included in our tour was wonderful here with lots of delicious options. A nice surprise was the scale in the lobby where we could weigh our suitcases before going to the airport. We loved the location,...

We spent three nights here recently. Hotel rooms and breakfast very good. It is very near tram and train stops, but on the edge of the CBD. It is a bit of a walk to any restaurants. We had a park view which was nice.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
