As soon as you walk in, this hotel has a beautiful vibe and has an industrial feel about it. The rooms are beautifully decorated, but note at night it can get a little noisy, as you get the echo from the main foyer and hotel bar up through the void. In terms of location it's a fair walk to Flinder...

Cannot fault this hotel! The personal service that I recieved from everyone at this hotel - just amazing. Recognised me and my other friends as loyal customer. Front office staff were so friendly and attentive. Asked for extra toothbrush at like 2am, and it came straight away, even the night team was so helpful! Please look after the staff well,...

I had high expectations of this Intercon having perused a number of the reviews and having stayed in a number of Intercontinental properties in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. My check in was OK, although my room was not ready. This was fair enough as was early (just before midday). I was told I would be contacted on my...

I only stayed for one night but it was lovely. The door man quickly took my bags from me and put them on the trolley ready to take to my room as I was checking in. They also showed us how everything works in the hotel. In the morning I rang them 5 mins before I was going to leave...

From check-in to check-out the InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto we had a great experience. The rooms blend neatly in with the historic building. The atrium is always a stunning sight. Such a great stay at this Intercontinental hotel. We had lounge access and would say this is the best lounge we have used within the IHG group so far. Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Celebrated as one of the world’s hottest and best new hotels by both Conde Nast Traveler and Wallpaper* magazines, InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto is a fascinating example of the city’s fusion of old and new. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto represents the resurrection of one of the city’s last remaining examples of 19th Century Victorian Gothic architecture into a timeless and inspiring luxury hotel. Its city centre location on Collins Street is at the heart of the laneways, attractions and experiences that give Melbourne its international appeal. Behind the Gothic façade is a sleek yet intimate hotel that is home to two very different bars – the Bluestone Wine Lounge and the Market Lane Bar – and a variety of dining establishments, including Alluvial Restaurant and Guy Grossi’s exciting new venture, Merchant. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto has also teamed up with Shannon Bennett, providing valet parking for his new Vue de monde restaurant on the 55th floor of the adjacent Rialto building. InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto’s warmth and exceptional service belies its size, with more than 250 guest rooms across two soaring wings, including a stunning collection of suites as well as the exclusive Club InterContinental lounge and facilities for premium guests. The hotel’s rooftop is also a destination itself, home to the kitchen’s own market garden and beehives, the Scandinavian-inspired swimming pool and the glass-encased fitness centre overlooking the Melbourne cityscape. Also available is the luxurious candle-lit East Day Spa offering east-meets-west treatments and therapies. Before guests arrive, they can take advantage of the concierges’ passion and Insider knowledge of the city. Chief Concierge, James Ridenour and his team are the key to authentic experiences of the real Melbourne and everything the city has to offer. ... more   less
