Selected this site due to the location to use as a base for my business visits. Plan was to use my room as a office but found small to be productive. Had to request in house Breakfast order form on more than two occasions.

I traveled with my family for two weeks in Australia. I stayed at the Grand chanceller Hotel in Melbourne. The staff including the manager were all friendly. Especially Raymond kind comfortable at home. Thanks to Raymond.

Location was convenient, as was for an overnight stay, the hotel was good value for the business trip. The rooms were a bit small & cramped. But was functional in all aspects. The breakfast spread was good, and the staff were very helpful.

Have stayed at Grand Chancellors in Hobart and Launceston and was very happy with the experience .Found the Melbourne Grand Chancellor very disappointing when comparing against the other two .Furniture outdated , needs replacing , I believe this hotel has had its day . Room phone not working ,desk chair broken . Bathroom light faulty and lacked a ventilation fan...

My partner and my brother really enjoyed our first stay in Melbourne without our parents. The location of the hotel was perfect being close to everything we wanted to visit. Would definitely stay here again.

Really poor experience with the staff. Kept on taking phone calls while I waited at the reception to checkout. Wanted to leave my bag as I had meetings all day, but had to carry with me as I had to drop keys in the box

The location suited my training needs as it was around the corner. I enjoyed the pool on the two days that I was staying. It is a wonderful view of Melbourne in the morning and lovely and warm. the restaurant offers a nice variety of meals and excellent service and the buffet breakfast is varied and substantial.

Booked 3 night economy room with breakfast through Flight Centre. Hotel did not have breakfast detail but problem fixed with us phoning FC. Room 609 was dark and dingy with little natural light (backed onto next door). Bathroom had no extractor fan and lacked storage space. The tile grouting was dirty. Inside fridge door was broken so that bottles fell...

Positives were the location, parking, friendly staff, wifi (albeit slow) Where this hotel disappointed was that it advertises being a 4* hotel and in my opinion it's more a 3. The decor is dated, bathroom was pokey and it was difficult to get the shower the right temperature, the photo of the roof top pool looks better than it is...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
