Centrally located near main shopping area, adjacent to the Grand Mercure (and sharing an entrance on Swanston Street),very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, clean & comfortable - what more could you want at this price?!

We have always found this hotel very, very central for our needs. Each year we visit our family who live a good hour south of Melbourne. We normally stay at this hotel the last 2 nights before we fly home. The staff that we had contact with were all very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely the best staff. Car attendants , desk staff, everyone was pleasant and most helpful . They even advised and organised myki for us. Room though small was clean and everything worked. Happy to recommend to anyone that wants accommodation in the heart of the city

Although we have stayed in this particular hotel before, it was so many years ago that we cannot remember too much about it. We were lucky that we were able to check in a little bit early. This certainly helped. The room itself was rather dated and small, but it served its purpose. It was freshly cleaned, so we could...

Great location. All staff were fabulous. Our room was basic but contained all the essentials. Dine earlier in the breakfast time slot, little left towards end. Very close to Flinders St Station. Great access to trams. Walking distance to Etihad Stadium. Would definately stay there again.

Small room, from reviews as expected, but OK for me and my daughter. The lift kept breaking which was quite amusing at first, but became tedious after a while as we were on the 12th floor. More could have been done to help with luggage etc given the lift situation. Service was fine, except the buffet breakfast - impossible to...

I stayed here for a week a few years ago, and have just booked my next stay here for two nights and I am looking forward to it as last time I was here it was really nice and clean, comfortable, and what you pay for!! For around $110 a night you won't find much better. In my opinion there...

The staff were very friendly and very helpful, especially the valet service. Our room was upgraded and service was excellent. Renovation was occurring but did not have a big affect on our stay, only one lift running which resulted in a longer wait, but never too long.

I have stayed in other Mercure hotels in Melbourne at a higher rate and the Mercure Welcome equals those hotels. The location is excellent being easy to get to via trams. The breakfast was great with always plenty of stock ( ie hash browns & bacon) available and the option of having eggs prepared anyway. Highly Recommend. I booked again...

We arrived after 10 pm and left at 8.30 am so luxury wasn't a priority on this trip. The room was fairly basic, but clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. Would stay again if just for 1 night.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
