The Mercure Welcome is part of The Swanston Grand Mercure hotel, so you share the facilities - and the location - dead centre of Melbourne CBD. As we were staying four nights and are members of Accor's Advantage Plus we were upgraded to a larger corner unit with a kitchenette. This helped make a great stay in Melbourne for us....

This hotel is older yet in a perfect location in the heart of the city. It is so easy to walk to everything in the city. The tram stops right out front, the train is a 5 minute walk down the street, and taxis seem to arrive within minutes after being ordered. It isn't the sort of hotel where I...

We arrived at the hotel, went to our room, and we were disappointed in size and amenities went to reception and saw Liam who upgraded us with out any problems. The hotel was in a great location and all the staff were very helpful. When we go back to Melbourne we will stay there again.

I picked this hotel as the location was just what I needed. Unfortunately, the hotel is dated and wayyyyy past its prime. I had to go out and buy ear plugs because the room was so noisy (even without the construction noise) - the pipes from other rooms meant whenever anyone flushed a toilet or had a shower or ran...

The location I find is very good. Easy access to trams and everything else. This is one of the reasons we have stayed with this Hotel so often. Took advantage of special prices through the Accor system and upgraded to bigger room this time. Everything was good. Service at desk and in restaurants was good, friendly and helpful. Queries were...

the hotel is looking a bit tired but is being renovated so should improve. One of the lifts were not working as it was being upgraded which meant that getting from your room to ground floor at checkout time took a little bit longer but it wasnt too bad. We were otified about this whe we booked so were expecting...

This hotel is right in the centre of the shopping district and restaurant mecca of china town. It is nicely appointed and great value for money. The bufet breakfast was well presented with plenty of choice, and meals are well priced for evening dining in the restaurant. the cocktail lounge was especially good value, with daily $10 cocktails and a...

Clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Very good service. Great location right in the centre of the city. It was a bit hard to find at first because of works in Little Bourke St. Good facilities but getting a bit tired. Delicious buffet breakfast. Will definitely stay here again.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
