Needed an easy, comfortable place to stay for 1 night only. This hotel is in a great position in the CBD. The hotel is within the main central city shopping area. There are lots of restaurants & entertainment close by. Very comfortable room & QUIET!

This hotel is in the heart of China Town. Very vibrant area with so much to do. Arriving at the hotel I missed the entrance first time around due to road works, and had to drive around again. Inside the lobby and reception area is done very well and was made to feel welcome. The bedrooms however are very small,...

Stayed four nights. Can't fault it. The room was small but comfortable, quite and clean. Nice bar and restaurant. Very central to everything. If you can't walk trams outside front door will take you anywhere. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Our trip to Melbourne was very last minute so we wanted accomodation on a budget in a great location. We definitely found that with the Mercure Welcome. The rooms are quite small, so if you're planning on doing some morning Tai Chi or aerobics then this isn't going to be the spot for you. But if you're the holidayer that's...

Excellent location. So close to shopping, trams and all the action. The reception staff go beyond the call of duty helping with directions and transport. So very helpful. David Jones, Meyer and the specialty shops at you door. Trams to take you to St Kilda, Luna Park and visit the community gardens. Also tram to Brunswick East. Rooms serviced daily.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Welcome in Lt Burke St - right in the heart of Melbourne, with Chinatown just there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold food.

My partner & I stayed for 4 nights - the hotel is located in a great spot - very central & makes shopping & dining out easily accessible. Organising valet parking was a bit of an issue, along with retrieving our car from the valet parking upon checking out. The hotel itself isn't overly wheelchair accessible (my partner is in...

I blame myself - booked here at short notice, probably didn't do the homework I should have. But at the end of the day, we paid $230 for what was essentially a backpackers dressed up like a hotel. To be fair, the location is pretty good, can't fault that. But it all ends there. Our room had a window looking...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
