Comfortable and adequately appointed in the centre of the Melbourne CBD. Close to transport, entertainment, shopping and restaurants in the city. Trams at the front door, China town and major shopping establishments just around the corner. Friendly staff and comfortable well appointed rooms.

Plum in the centre of Melbourne's shopping district, this hotel offers the perfect base to explore Melbourne. The Swanston rooms are larger allowing more room however the smaller, standard rooms are more than adequate.

Stayed 3 nights at a wonderful price. The hotel is in a fantastic location, and only a two minute walk to the Bourke Street Mall. The beds were comfortable, the room was spotless, and the staff were brilliant! I'll be staying here every time I visit Melbourne.

My friend and I recently stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. First impressions do count and the excellent service by the staff shows from the moment you walk in! We arrived a little before 2pm check in time but it was no hassle got into our room straight away. We were given a spacious twin room (two double beds)...

I stayded at the Swanston Hotel when visiting Melbourne for the football with a friend. The room was ok, but the airconditioning was very noisy and had to be turned off overnight because of this. The beds were uncomfortable and old. In addition during the stay I had another guests items left in my room when we were out, and...

Been holidaying in Melbourne for years & I have worked in hospitality & to say that all staff encountered within this hotel on various stays, are extremely accommodating. The room of choice for myself & travelling companion is a twin with double beds for ease & comfort. The best location with so much within walking distance and trams on the...

We spent 4 nights in this excellently located hotel for our wedding anniversary. Upon check in the staff were amazing, with special thanks to James at the concierge desk who was super wonderful. The rooms was spacious, clean, the bed comfortable and the couch appreciated. We had an excellent view of Eureka Tower. The location, around the corner from Bourke...

The hotel is clean. And it is near to restaurants, shopping places, and the train station. Hotel staffs are very helpful. I arrived very early to hotel (4am). And they allowed me to check-in early once my room was available - at 7am.

I was pleased to find that our room is big with two twin beds and each seems like a super single (can probably fit in two people nicely). The beds are very comfy and well equipped with many pillows. The only con is that after cleaning, the cleaning lady usually misplace my pillows and puts them all on my friend's...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
