Was quite concerned after reading a few negative comments with regards to the housekeeping and cleanliness of the hotel. However, these concerns were proven unnecessary during our 4 nights stay there. Stayed in a room with two double beds which was very comfortable for our family of 4. The room was made up daily and the toilet cleaned well. Though... More

This hotel has to be in the most convenient location if you want to stay on the CBD area. Trams at the front door, awesome shopping all around you. Very professional staff. Very clean and nicely presentated rooms. We stayed in a junior suite and this was very roomy and suited our week long stay. Very nice restaurant.

First I have to say the staff at front desk, housekeeping, Soul Cafe, & bar were all excellent. The room was another matter, it was very tired. This Hotel is listed as 4 star but I'm not sure how. The bed felt so old that the filling had compacted, the curtains were coming off the rails. As for the bathroom... More

We stayed as a family of 3 in a room with 2 double beds. Pool was a hit with our 7 year old, room was comfortable and pleasant with everything you need, and the bar downstairs had happy hour deals and a nice bar menu. The location cannot be beat, you are literally right in the centre of the city.... More

We stumbled across this - as our 'regular' stay was full. Love the location of this hotel. Staff are friendly and extremely efficient. Rooms are well appointed and fit our needs for short or long term stays. We definitely have a new place to stay each time we visit. Cannot recommend The Grand Mecure enough!

Plenty of space in room - we had a suite. The bed was a bit hard and creaky and there was noise from exhaust fans in neighbouring building until midnight. Overall the hotel presents as a more budget style than the room rate suggests.

The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they were excellent. Check in, valet parking, bar and breakfast greeting. The room was tired and for the price I paid, low quality. The breakfast whilst cheat was poor, forget the bacon! The location of course was excellent, right in the heart of everything.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
