We did not have problems with the hotel rooms. The ones we had seem to be newly furbished of sorts, so that was great. Everything worked fine. However, I personally thought that the service can do with lots more improvement as it did seem they were not bothered with questions you might want to check in with them with. And... More

Paid for a Dockland view hotel room- got a building site view. Maybe it didn't matter as the windows were so dirty I could hardly see outside, When we got into room there was an old chocolate wrapper on the floor, I left it there and it was still there three days later, It would be fair to say nobody... On check in I was asked to pay more for room for 1st night then quoted. When I explained this, I got a quick oh sorry about that. Arrived in room. The smell was burning my eyes and throat. ???Too much air spray, to diluted enough? Even when one of the mangers came to inspect he was on his hands... More

Reasonably priced rooms, very clean and comfortable. Only downside is that it is not quite in the city centre/a bit of a walk from the main attractions (but still in the CBD). Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is always fairly cheap and I find it good for work trips. The breakfast is average, but the rooms are clean and recently decorated. I stay here fairly often and find the service pretty good on each visit.

Basic, new, modern, clean. Close to southern cross station. Great for stop off on way to airport. Did not eat here. More than happy for the price. Check in was fast, no frills. If you just want a room to sleep this is perfect.

Beware being charged for movies that magically appear on your bill, and receptionists who believe that technology is more important than customer service. Even when you flat out tell them that you did not watch a movie on their system, they will not believe you, as apparently, it doesn't just appear on the system without one using it. Blue Jasmine... Good location being close to southern cross station. The reception staff were friendly but not very experienced. The room service was poor as the second day my room wasn't serviced and the attending staff were speaking very loud early in the morning outside of the room which was a bit annoying. Room was very simple, small size, with an empty... More

Good location, spacious room, reasonable prize. Receptionist were good and helpful. The main drawback was there was no free wifi and the charge for using broadband is really expensive which is quiet unreasonable in the present scenario.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
