I stayed with my daughter at the About Melbourne apartments from February 19 to 22. It was set to be a hot month in Melbourne, and when I booked I specifically selected an apartment that listed 'air-conditioning' as an amenity. Upon arrival i was told that this apartment did NOT have air conditioning, but only a portable 'air-cooler'. At the...

I booked four months in advance and was informed by Amelia one week before the booking that she had made a double booking and I would need to find alternative accommodation. This meant I had to scramble for a last minute booking elsewhere, at not inconsiderable expense considering it was a busy period. I didn't stay in the apartment so...

Dear howardhelly, Thank you for taking time to review my service. Once again I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the distress and inconvenience you suffered as a result of us having experienced a double booking (resulting from a computer error) over the period you were due to stay with us at About Melbourne Apartments. My daughter and I stayed at the Liverpool Street apartments for 4 nights during the Australian Open Tennis. The apartment was of high quality - clean and well appointed. The location was great, being close to China Town and the main city area and an easy walk to the tennis. We had to phone from the building entrance when we...

For our very first time in Melbourne, we chose a prime place to stay. We stayed at 61 Liverpool and loved being close to everything in the city. Amelia was a delight to work with. For us we relied contact her via e-mail rather than via mobile. She still was able to answer any questions and help with any request....

We stayed 2 nights at 225 Elizabeth Street. Lovely, clean, very well equipped apartment, with everything you need. The bed and pillows were just a little soft, but still comfortable. China Town, Myer, David Jones, etc, just across the road, and surprisingly quiet for an inner city apartment. The only thing I would suggest would be a full length mirror...

I stayed for 2 weeks and had a great experience. The apartments are in a really central location, clean, and well presented. I also thought that the service the Amelia offered was top notch, and I would definitely book again the next time I am in Melbourne.

I was impressed with the apartment and how quiet it was considering it is in the city. Was great to be able to open the sliding door to let some air in. I stayed with my elderly mother and found everything was easily accessible. Will definitely be staying again and recommending the place.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
