Though this place acts much more like a boutique hotel (the proprietor John may not be the overtly warm type, but then neither am I), I'd be hard pressed to find any real fault. I personally enjoy being left to decide how social I want to be. Shopping and dining are an easy walk away, though we tended to take...

I stayed at the Grand Vue Private Hotel with slight hesitation because the website pictures and layout did not reflect the quality inn that I was seeking. I was mistaken. When we drove to the front of the beautifully maintained classic hotel in the upscale Battery Point neighborhood, I was surprised. The front garden was well tended, and the exterior...

This is place is a gem. Perfectly located in Battery Point it certainly transports you back in time, which is what you want when you visit one of Australia's oldest cities. The time travel stops there though because the rooms are modern day classics. Everything you need and done with style. Freshly made, warm, lemon cakes delivered to your room...

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. The views are lovely, the CBD just down the hill, yet you are spared the hustle and bustle of the Salamanca area. Pros: There are some really nice touches like the after dinner warm muffins, the lovely spa bath and the fancy toiletries. The rooms are beautifully finished and really are like...

I can't fault this place, it is absolutely lovely. The rooms are so elegant and stylish, while still feeling cosy. The views are unbelievable. Location is perfect, Battery Point is the perfect base for Hobart with plenty of great local cafés, pubs and restaurants. And John is very helpful & welcoming. I made the mistake of booking the Salamanca Wharf...

We made a mistake, booking two nights for a three night conference in Hobart. Our hotel was booked solid for the third night, so I googled "Best hotel in Hobart" as a starting point for a search, and the Grand Vue popped up. I would liked to have spent the whole three nights here, but will most definitely make up...

We stayed here for two nights on a five night trip around Tasmania. Our tour guide (Tasmania-I-Drive) had organized this. Excellent location in that it is just a short walk to Salamanca and it is literally a couple of minutes to an excellent Italian restaurant and a number of other eateries. The highlight of the stay though had to be...

We stayed 4 nights here during our first visit to Hobart. This beautiful boutique hotel is located in Battery Point, an historic area of Hobart which we found to be the ideal location, only a 5 to 10 minute walk from Salamanca Place and the harbour. The rooms in the hotel have been superbly decorated and looking out at the...

This charming private hotel in Battery Point is a gem. In a quiet street overlooking the river, you would barely know it it a hotel. Very elegant stately exterior and beautifully appointed inside. Our room was very cosy with lovely views. In the afternoon we were delivered piping hot cakes that filled the whole hotel with a wonderful aroma. Short...
