Our first family holiday in years with in-laws, aunties, and adult children. Mayfair on Cavell is a converted old mansion with later buildings attached. It is run by descendants of the Ludeke family who restored it in 1967. Some staff have been there for 40 years! It was the only establishment which offered a family suite that would sleep 6...

The elite rooms of the Mayfair on Cavell are decorated with a old world charm. Spacious and comfortable my room was great. The pricing is very reasonable and restaurants, bottle shop and a convenience shop are all within 3 minutes walk. The CBD and Salamanca is 1-2km downhill so be prepared for the walk uphill on the way back (if...

The motel is located in a very quiet area of Hobart - but if walking is your only mode of transport, be prepared for a steep climb up the hill! All staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Microwave, kettle, toaster in the room and plenty of additional kitchen items available on request. Small bar fridge...

Nice and somewhat friendly staff. Rooms were of an older decor but comfortable. One room in particular had numerous gentlemen callers throughout the day and night. I would not recommend this Motel to anyone with children.

Lovely welcome from young gentleman who willingly shared lots of local information. Twin share Room very spacious (with an armchair, heaven). Vast DVD/video selection available if so inclined. Motel clean and in very quiet area, close to a variety of eateries. The only great thing about Hobart.

Spent two nights here in the Batman suite which gave us a large lounge dining sleeping are, separate kitchen and bathroom, and hallway access to a lovely courtyard out the back. Extremely well priced for all this and only a couple of minutes out of the city centre by cab or bus. Our suite is part of the original heritage...

The motel was clean and close to the city. Although only 1.5km from the harbour the walk back to the motel is all up hill. The decor if very 1970s, not sure if this is the look they are going for or if nothing has been updated for 40 years.

The old story, what you see on the website & leaflets is not what you get. Rooms are very dated with worn period style chairs & old wardrobes. Shower over bath. Power point not fixed to wall, hot water tap needs to be turned about 6 times before water flows, cheap toaster that burns on one side even on low...

We occupied a 2 bedroom unit for 4 but it can easily accomodate 5-6 people. It comes with a separate living and dining room; and a kitchenette. However, the room and the hotel in general have seen better days. The room for sure can use with renovation. However, the building of the hotel is interesting and I believe of historical...

Perched high on the hillside in west Hobart, Mayfair on Cavell was well worth the stay. More at the budget end of the tariff scale but our week here was very good. Older style decor and facilities but this did not detract from what this motel had to offer. If we came back to Hobart, we would book again.
