My stay at the Astor was perfect. I felt right at home. I stayed in an ensuite room on the 3rd floor. It had everything I needed. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfy and the ensuite was nicely refurbished. All this at such a reasonable rate, with breakfast thrown in! The owner Tildy is a delight... More

Astor private hotel staff were very friendly and rooms clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was that I didn't realise when I booked that there was no parking and it is shared bathrooms as well as no TV but that can be a blessing if you want to unwind. Good position close to Salamanca

Gorgeous budget accommodation within walking distance from all attractions in Hobart. Great breakfast, fast wifi. Lovely historic rooms, amazing, hilarious staff, would stay again in a heartbeat. Note: shared bathrooms for many rooms.

This is the second time I stopped over at the Astor. This time with my wife. So I moved up from the budget room which I shared with my mate when we went down the Franklin. The Astor is such a charming building set in the heart of the CBD so is in walking distance to the main attractions. Tildy... More

First of all, when you arrive you meet the manager, Tildy. We found her to be wonderful but if you’re precious, be in for abit of a shock. Tildy is gregarious and a wonderful person – enjoy her company. The hotel itself is a 1920s building with it starting on the first floor of the building (a separate, popular, restaurant... More

A beautiful historic Hobart hotel within very easy walking distance of the city centre. Warm and comfy beds and rooms. Fabulous friendly atmosphere. Tildy the manager is a treasure and always willing to help in house or with local knowledge. Highly recommended.

Had another visit to this well worn and wonderful establishment, and again it impressed me. Tildy who runs the place again impressed me with her unique hospitality and service. It's a great Hotel, very central, clean, tidy and not expensive, you wont be disappointed. If your coming from outside Tasmania and want a room upgrade, suggest you pick up a... More

I was looking for reasonably-priced, centrally-situated accommodation in Hobart. Did I find it? Certainly did! Researching places on the "net", I kept on coming back to the Astor. I made inquiries. Each time there was an immediate response from management. Could arrangements be made for an early arrival and a late departure? No problem. On arrival, there was a very... More

From the very first email conversation we had with this property, we new we were in for a treat. Tildy who runs the place is an absolute gem. Chatty and irreverant, makes her the bestest of hostesses. Her guests, especially kids love her, and the old world charm of the very reasonably priced hotel, make for repeat bookings on a... More

The Astor Private Hotel is central to Hobart city and all public transport needs. The rooms are very old fashion and makes you feels right at home. The owner of the hotel is very welcoming, friendly and makes the stay enjoyable. I will be staying here again and would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
