Hotel's Favourite
Excellent Accommodation in a very central location in Hobart.
We stayed two nights in room 5502. Not sure if this was an upgrade as we’ve stayed twice previously and can’t remember the other rooms being as spacious.
The decor, furnishings, bathroom and bed were all of a very high standard.
All room facilities were very modern and very clean.
The hotel foyer and bar is great!
Happy hour prices are amazing and the staff all very attentive and friendly.
We stayed with two other couples whose thoughts reflect ours as well!
We’ll definitely be back!
Highly recommended Hotel.

The RACT hotel is well located in the heart of Hobart. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. A big plus for us is there are opening windows to allow fresh air in the rooms.
The bathroom is fairly small but adequate and the towels large, soft and absorbent.
Free car parking is a nice addition.
Will stay again when in Hobart.

Excellent, friendly, competent staff everywhere (apart from one cranky, unhelpful bespectacled guy at checkout but that happens).
Room (1 bedroom apartment) was great and had a balcony for fresh air.
Nothing in the bar-fridge but room-service is available. Has ironing board/iron. The room has a washing machine inside so very handy if coming back from camping etc. Kitchen for cooking also.
A nice thing I haven’t come across anywhere else is Green Day. Not having the room serviced for a day gives a $10 bar credit. So less wasted toiletries and towels, great.
Restaurant food was ok except the crispy potatoes were burnt offerings; unable to crack into them as they shot across the table, impervious to fork or knife. Bar food was very good. Would eat at the bar next time and skip the restaurant or head-out to somewhere else.
The bar/lobby area is beautiful but very loud when busy. Again, nice staff (Sam in particular) and decent spread of booze and snacks/food.
Odd not to have table service there though and no indication that drinks orders have to be placed and carried from the bar (no menus on the tables I sat on indicating that; I worked it out eventually after 20 minutes of no service). Food is delivered after ordering at the bar.
Plenty of good breakfast places nearby so forget about expensive breakfast in the hotel.
No complaints at all. Great location and would stay again.

My family and I are currently 2 nights into a 7 nights stay at the RACV Hobart and the experience so far has left much to be desired. We originally arrived at the hotel at 11am hoping but not expecting to check in a little earlier as we had two tired little ones with us. The girl at reception advised that she would get in contact with the cleaners to try and fast track the availability of our room and that she would message us when it wears ready. After a stroll around the Hobart CBD we decided to head back to the hotel at just before 2pm surprised that we didn’t receive a message that the room was ready especially when we were advised that it had been prioritised. At 2.05pm one of the front desk girls advised that the room was ready so we patiently waited in the sitting area until 2.20pm when we had to once again ask if the room was available. This time we were advised that there was an issue that needed to be investigated. Finally at around 2.30pm we were able to check in. Upon arrival at our King apartment we instantly noticed that the room hadn’t been setup for the 2 adults and 2 children that we had booked for as the sofa bed hadn’t been prepared as there were no pillows, linen and towels for each of us.
At around 3pm we left the hotel to do a little shopping and made mention to the same two girls at the front desk that we required the room to be setup correctly with linen and towels and they advised that they would sort it out for us. Upon return 2 hours later we entered the room to once again notice that the room still hadn’t been setup and there were still not enough towels for each of the 4 of us paying guests. Once again another visit to the front desk was required to request that the room be setup. Finally we received a pile of sheets and towels which were left for us to sort out the bedding.
We did receive a visit from the duty Manager Julian later that night who apologised and specifically asked when we were heading out the next day so that he could arrange for the room to be setup. We advised that we would be out of the room at 9.30am and he confirmed that the room would be setup then. After a few hours at Salamanca market we returned at around midday to find that the room still wasn’t setup even after the duty manager confirmed that this would be done.
The following day being today we had spent all day out fo the room and once again returned at around 7.00pm to find that the room hadn’t been cleaned or towels replaced. Another trip to the front desk to discuss with the staff and this time we were advised that the hotel aren’t cleaning the rooms any longer and that you had to request that your room is cleaned on a daily basis. The duty Manager advised that this should have been advised upon check in which never occurred and she also advised that it was written in the 5 page welcome pack. Funnily enough she did mention that no one reads these things anyway!!.
Don’t get me wrong, the location of the hotel is terrific with great access to the cbd, wharfs and Salamanca however we have been left with a sour taste in our mouths after the experiencing some of the worst customer service that we have ever experienced.
We still have another 4 nights here so fingers crossed the experience will improve

The reception was efficient and helpful upon arrival. The room was comfortable and warm on a cold Hobart day. The bed was superbly comfortable. The apartment had everything we needed including a washing machine/ drier and iron and ironing board which we needed after several days of touring. Breakfast was included and very nice. The Cascade Bar was really enjoyable and the food great. The ambiance of the old Cascade brewery which has been cleverly designed to fit with the modern accommodation building is really interesting. Wifi worked well. Parking arrangements were great. Best of all every member of staff was courteous and helpful. I have been going to Hobart at least annually for a decade or more, and think this accommodation is as good as anywhere for the very reasonable price.

We have stayed in Salamanca Place many times before so wanted to stay up in the CBD this time. I would highly recommend this hotel. 2-3 minute walk to the CBD shopping area, restaurants etc and only about 10-15 to the waterfront. The Charcoal Restaurant rivaled anywhere we have eaten in Hobart and they went above and beyond in their service. Secure parking was provided and undercover (if you weren't a member of the RACV or RACT it was a minimal charge.) Bed and pillows were very comfy and overall it was pretty quiet. Liked the little extras in the room such as a pull out clothes line and good quality hairdryer. Also liked there was a window you could open to avoid using the air conditioning. Skybus (airport bus) stop directly opposite.

We stayed for 2 nights over New Years and was so happy with our room (#3312) was so spacious and well equipped. It didn't have a great view but that didn't bother us. There was a large lounge room with couch and armchair, table & chairs, desk, well stocked kitchenette and washer/dryer in the room. The bathroom was also spacious with a separate shower and bath and long bathroom bench to hold all your travelling bathroom essentials. The location was great for shopping and restaurants, as well as enjoying the NYE festivities with an easy walk back to our comfy beds. Room was spotlessly clean, all staff were friendly and attentive. There was also a 'Green Option' to hang on your door to skip housekeeping and reduce environmental impact and you receive a $10 bar voucher, we took advantage of this as was only a short stay, and enjoyed the drink :-)
Would definitely stay at RACV/RACT Hobart again.

Staying at the RACV hotel in Hobart was a great choice - good location, has onsite parking and if you are member its good value for money. When the carpark was full they offered valet at no charge. Had one meal there when we arrived but there was a great place round the corner called the Little Lotus Cafe which is excellent for brunch with a great variety of vegan meals

One of those rare stays where there is literally nothing to fault.
Firstly, although Central Reservations said the parking was "offsite", it is in fact physically connected to the hotel with direct lift access to Reception and the rooms. I would actually consider that onsite and it was no problem at all. Free City parking (for RACT members) - what a bonus!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the reception and lounge/bar areas were all very tastefully decorated. Our room (1 Bed King Apartment) was great. Spacious, clean, modern and very well appointed. The separate bedroom allowed privacy and quietness and the convenience of a 2nd TV. Shower pressure was strong with smooth temperature control. Wooden window shutters was an unusual (but welcome) feature that provided total blockout.
Buffet breakfast had the usual items, all of which were nice and fresh and tasty. Eggs and coffee made to order were a nice touch. Staff here were especially cheery and attentive.
Got a great deal through RACT, but honestly, even at full price, this is a great hotel to stay at in expensive Hobart City.
