Wow! We stopped in at the Shipwright arms on the recommendation of someone at Jackman and McRoss, which doesn't serve dinner. We discussed dinner options, which seemed ok. We returned for dinner which turned out to be EXCELLENT! We had the fish of the day with vegetables. We also ordered a plate of chips (fries, if you're American). We all loved...

Stayed there great position, amazing friendly staff, could not fault at all. Food great, good selection, accommodation clean and comfy, walk to salamanca and CBD, walk around Battery Point enjoy the quaint cottages and plenty of places to have a light brunch or a coffee

For a Saturday night meal with 3 friends, we were quite satisfied with the meals we were served. While I agree the menu is typical pub fare, it seemed well done and didn't disappoint four hungry guys. I really enjoyed the seafood chowder. Overall a good experience for the night out.

Four of us ate dinner here tonight, 2 of us for the first time. We were disappointed that we had to wait over 1.5 hours until our main meals were served. Sadly we found the staff very un-attentive and difficult to wave down to order our meals, drinks and to receive cutlery! When we enquired about the delay at the...

It’s always a bit of a challenge feeding hungry teenagers on a budget while travelling. Often pub grub is the best solution as it’s filling and moderately priced. So it was a visit to Shippies at the Shipwright’s Arms Hotel located at Battery Point. It’s a gorgeous heritage building with nautical décor, the food is typical pub fare. Of the...

We went there for lunch with two other couples. The food was typical pub food steaks not cooked to order served with big chunky fried potatoes and undressed salad. The seafood chowder was presented will lots of green herbs on the top and was just warm. The bread loaf was good warm and fresh. Would recommend for memorabilia but not...

Heritage building in a quiet area of Battery Point. We had just arrived in Tasmania and just wanted a nights rest. That is all we got, not enough sleep due to being over the kitchen with extractor/fridges, other electrical equipment switching on an off all night. Recommend asking for rooms 1 to 4, may be quieter/smaller. The room was clean,...

We have enjoyed dinner at the Shipwright's Arms hotel on previoius visits to Hobart so I had no hesitation in recommending it for our large group. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is very good as was the service. I highly recommend the seafood plate. We didn't stay in the Hotel's accommodation so unable to comment on that.
