This is one of the nicest hotels we have had the pleasure to stay in. We loved the location (Hobart waterfront), our very spacious and modern waterfront room and the overall atmosphere of this hotel. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast twice during our four night stay but didn't get a chance for any other meals as we were in Hobart for a jam packed long weekend of events. We had a car for the first few nights which was valet parked at no extra cost but location meant we could walk into city and around waterfront area very easily for our remaining days without a car. We are already planning when we can get to Hobart again so we can enjoy some more of the features of this hotel on our next stay. The room rate is expensive but I feel in comparison to other hotels charging similar rates you do walk away thinking I would pay that again for that experience.

The MACq01 is a tasteful new hotel in Hobart in an excellent position right on the wharf. The architecture is sympathetic and lovely with the building in timber and only 3 storeys high. The rooms were very large with a separate suitcase/clothes hanging/dressing/bathroom area which was very useful. We had a non view of the harbour room and it was absolutely fine. Very lovely hotel.

Can’t praise this wonderful hotel strongly enough. It’s just fabulous. My hubby & I stayed for what was originally going to be 2 nights in a Waterfront Terrace Room, but when our plans changed slightly, we added an additional 2 nights. For these extra 2 nights, due to costs, we booked a Superior Room which still had water views , but Management kindly upgraded that room allowing us to spend all 4 nights in the Waterfront Terrace. So, right from the get go, they were already ticking boxes with us, but, seriously, this hotel ticks boxes all by itself. It’s location right on the waterfront is a massive winner & when hubby & I took a stroll into the city, we realised how lucky & grateful we were to be staying on the waterfront. The room itself was spacious, well appointed, & the huge terrace balcony puts you right there in this fisherman’s heaven, with views to die for right up to the CBD & Mt Wellington in the distance. The included breakfast was fabulous, & other areas like the lounge are great for a relaxing drink, although it can get a little noisy at times. The lifts have an interesting soft voiceover from convict times, which provide a connection to the past, as does large plaques of different convicts that adorn the front doors of each guest room . The tariff is good value for money especially if you travel outside of peak periods like Easter & school holidays. There were a couple a small hiccups like one of the included breakfasts being mistakenly charged to us, but this was immediately rectified upon checkout. Overall, we had a truly wonderful stay at Macq01 & I certainly recommend it on every level.

Our four night stay @ MACq 01 was the very best hotel experience ever! The vibes feel good as soon as you enter and everything just keeps getting better. Our room, with a stunning view out to the water and dock, was large, bright, beautifully furnished and with a very stylish ensuite. The restaurant and bar were both excellent. The big thing this hotel has going for it are the fabulous staff, every single staff member we met throughout the hotel were on the ball, nothing too much trouble, and all seemed really happy to a be part of this classy but fun hotel. Of special mention was Stanley on reception - we had bought a housewarming present at the market for our niece to be given that afternoon. Arriving back at the hotel we asked if they had any wrapping paper. Rather than going the easy route and just saying 'sorry but no' Stanley said he would ask about and ring to let us know. Half an hour later he rang and apologised but he couldn't find any. A further half hour later and the phone rings again and he'd gone out and got wrapping paper, sticky tape and scissors - could he drop them up. This he did and declined any payment. Now that doesn't happen every day! This hotel does everything right on so many levels, yet doesn't have the 'preciousness' that a lot of high end hotels have. Brilliant.

If you want to watch the boats finishing the Sydney Hobart boat race then room 203 is excellent. Views right across Constitution Dock. Balcony good size and finish line in full view. Rooms are spacious especially bathroom and dressing area. Heated floor by the vanity a nice touch and bathrobes great with a hoodie. Breakfast is excellent. Location to wander the docks very convenient.
We stayed 5 nights and on arrival complimentary wine and cheese with Huon pine cheeseboard and woolly Tasmanian devil a nice touch. We stayed from December 27 to January 1st and whilst room rate was high we felt it worthwhile the expense.
For seafood lovers, Blue Eye Seafood in Saramanca Place is a must

I spent three nights at the MACq1 Hotel when I visited Hobart to go to MONA. The location right on the water is lovely and it's just a short walk to the pier to take the boat to MONA as well as being close to the main city shops and Salamanca. While the rooms are incredibly spacious, I had the impression they were designed with men in mind rather than women. The bathroom lighting was definitely not designed for a women to do makeup. No makeup mirror and bad lighting. The bathroom was large but I'm so over bathrooms without doors. You step out of the shower (also doorless) and freeze! The toilet had a frosted door - thank god. It's a shame really, as they've used beautiful materials in this hotel, but no thought for female guests or anyone who likes a bit of privacy. Nice products. The restaurant on the ground floor, which over looks the water, was great, as was the bar/lounge next to it. The young staff were well trained and friendly.

If you’re looking for a modern hotel with great facilities and friendly service in Hobart, you have to consider the MACq 01.

The location on the waterfront gives good walking access to the city and other parts of Hobart.

The breakfast was impressive and staff seemed very happy to assist with any enquiry.

The Evolve Bar in the foyer also serves some of the best cocktails I can remember.

The only disappointment was that the systems at the hotel had been down, apparently since April, which is odd, considering we visited in June. This meant nothing could be charged to a room, so it was pay as you go, which interrupts a five star hotel experience. However, the staff were most apologetic and seemed to be impacted more than the guests.

Room was great, room make up on day 2 forgot a number of items, and food value was ordinary at best.
Buffet breakfast was cold, even the items you would think would be slightly warm, although staff were exceptional in all ways.
Room service burger one evening, and I have had tastier at a community fund raiser, and I don’t mean to be nasty to community groups.
I will not return or recommend.

I stayed at MACq01 for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very well located at the wharf and steps away from great dining options. The room was spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable. The staff members were friendly and helpful. A special touch was the guest laundry facilities - a valuable amenity for someone like me who is travelling for an extended period. I also enjoyed the Tasmanian storytelling theme evident throughout the hotel. If I travel to Hobart again I won’t even consider another hotel. MACq01 was perfect.

Stayed 2 nights in a waterfront room. Check in was fast, staff were friendly and efficient. The room was large, opening onto a small balcony with a pleasant view from the waterfront back towards Mt Wellington. Huge bathroom with both shower and bath. Comfortable bed. Excellent level of cleanliness.
The historical displays in the hallways, and the naming of each room after a character from Tasmania's past, are interesting features.
Room was generally quiet, though there was some noise filtering in, both from upstairs rooms and from outside, especially on Saturday night (rooms facing Hunter Street may get a lot more noise).
Free valet parking is available and your car is made available with 10-15 minutes notice - this may be a disincentive to frequent use of your car but otherwise a bonus, and unless you wish to leave the city a car isn't necessary.
Location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the waterfront, Salamanca, and the city centre, and the Botanical Gardens slightly further away.
Tariff is quite high compared to some nearby hotels with equally nice views, but includes parking which is limited in the area and generally comes at a price.
