If you want to experience something unusual, maybe even a bit exotic, take the time to visit Coober Pedy, the opal capital of the world. We arrived there on the 20.11. after an fairly uneventful drive of about 840 kms. However we did get our first ticket for speeding.having clocked 119 kmh in an 110 kmh area. Good to know...

There is not a bad word to be said about our experience. The family run motel is comfortable, clean, welcoming & unique. The rooms are large & very cool - no a/c needed, they are a perfect 19-23 degrees all the time. We loved our experience at the comfort inn, it was relaxing & just what we needed during our...

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the motel is underground and is great to tour through and live-in mine shaft accommodation. I would recommend this motel to anyone travelling north to Alice Springs as an overnight stop.

I really wasn't sure about sleeping underground as I am a little claustrophobic, I really shouldn't have worried, it turned out to be a fantastic experience!. We reached Coober Pedy after a long and exhausting day on a motorcycle from Port Augusta. The staff were so friendly and helpful that they allayed my fears immediately. There are 4 generations of...

I was very nervous about being under ground, but had the best night's sleep. The motel is very cute, originally built (dug out) by the current manager's parents. Her daughters (and granddaughter) are also involved in the business. One daughter is a qualified massage therapist too, with treatments available on site! The perfect way to start your visit to Coober...

We had a great stay here and the staff were very friendly. So much to see and the rooms are clean and have a great ambience. Would definitely stay again and we normally camp as we had our trailer but when in Coober Pedy you have to stay underground - fabulous time.

Staying here wasn't just an amazing experience, it was welcoming and relaxing. Debbie and staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with a great bathroom, loved the shower! You can explore the hallways or chill out in the lounge areas, a totally fantastic place to stay. Take this adventure and stay here underground.

As several others have already indicated, I stayed twice at this underground hotel, which is a "must do" on any trip to Coober Pedy. This family-built-and-run establishment prided themselves on remembering our names (and even our breakfast orders on the second morning), and went beyond helpful in doing laundry, providing massages (thanks, Kezia - another family member), giving lifts to...

I hate average motels. This place is anything but average and is one of my favourite places in Australia. Apart from being UNDERGROUND, there are other aspects of this place that make it very special. It is family run, including a friendly dog, and the service was welcoming and attentive, with books, puzzles and boardgames available to borrow. The rooms...
