Daydream Island Resort & Living Reef is ideally located in the heart of Queensland’s Whitsundays Islands and the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. Following an extensive $140 million redevelopment in 2018-2019, our stylish and tranquil island resort offers a range of refurbished spacious and modern rooms and suites with stunning views overlooking the pool and garden landscapes or with ocean views. There is an expanded food and beverage offering across the island with three restaurants and three bars including an exciting new Asian Fusion restaurant which joins the buffet and modern Australian restaurants. The Living Reef is the main centerpiece of the island which is a unique free form coral lagoon wrapping 200m around the central building and holding over 1.5 million litres of water. The Living Reef is home to over 100 species of marine fish, over 80 species of coral and a variety of invertebrates such as starfish, sea cucumbers and crabs. The Resort offers a revitalised pool landscape that sweeps through the tropical gardens across the resort allowing guests to swim and enjoy unparalleled views across the Whitsundays Great Barrier Reef along with unlimited access to a variety of non-motorised water activities. Daydream Island Resort’s event space will cater to major events, conferences and destination weddings, yet still provide a personal touch. Special events from cocktail parties to gala dinners can be catered for across a large range of indoor and outdoor event locations, with weddings continuing to play a part in the story of Daydream Island Resort.

Overall experience was okay, the room is polished and had nice facilities and set up. However room service was not good at all... staff would come to service the rooms with the job half done. Examples, used ice bucket was left in the room for 3 days before someone actually bothered to take it, then the used coffee cup wasn’t replaced and again left for 2 days on the table. Rubbish was not consistently cleared, towels that needed to be replaced wasn’t. Second issue, we ate at ink bar 2 out of the 4 nights we stayed, they got the bill wrong. We were charged $177 instead of $75 and then they charged us $544 for someone else’s dinner. When I tried to speak to the waitress regarding the bill... she questioned what I had... which was frustrating as she was the one who had taken our orders. Both times they added charges for someone else’s meal. If it occurred once, I would understand but it was a recurring issue. What we enjoyed was the tonic bar and buffet, and pool facilities was great. There were busier than expected so there were times they ran out of ingredients for cocktails. Overall experience was alright however probably will not return.

I decided to take my partner over for a relaxing holiday as we don’t really get much time to ourselves and it’s her birthday next week. We went over here here from Friday-Monday. We got on the ferry and we were very excited. We had a very warm welcome to the island. We got excited that we were in for a relaxing weekend. We went and checked in and we were given our room key/swipe card. We got to our room and it was nice and clean and cool from the air con being left on. We were quite excited at this point. We went for a walk around to check out amenities around the place. And discovered the underwater reef that was very relaxing. But that’s where the relaxing ends. Unless you want to drink alcohol all day than there is nothing hardly to do. We were expecting a bit more to do. We decided to book a table at the Asian fusion restaurant for dinner that night and that whole experience was horrible nearly 1 and half hours between courses for dinner and staff that don’t look like they care at all. Also my partner asked for no spice on her food and she got spice. She spent the night wrapped around a toilet bowl. The next day we went to the buffet for breakfast and it was pretty poor. Not many selections, on the website it says a cooking station so I got there expecting a cooking station not just something cooking poached eggs and omelettes. The swimming pools were alright for a swim but quickly got over crowded and not very relaxing. For lunch snd dinner that day we got went to the Australian restaurant Inkstone. Prices were a bit over priced for what it was. $27 for a steak sandwich and 7 chips. Dinner we got take away pizza for the movie night they had on the South Island. The pizza was nice but not worth $34 for a meat lovers. Going to the South Island was a bit of a struggle as there wasn’t really many signs up and it wasn’t very well lit up so you could easily fall over. We decided to book a jet ski tour as we thought it would be a relaxing way to have a Sunday. HOW WRONG COULD I BE? WE GOT DISCRIMINATED BECAUSE OF OUR WEIGHT SAYING WE WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO GET BACK ON IF WE FELL OFF. This caused my partner to break down and cry because this was very hurtful to her. So we decided to do the rainforest walk which got out a lot of anger. But it still wasn’t the relaxing weekend we wanted. We wanted to leave at this time but decided to stay and booked in for the teppanyaki dinner at 8 o’clock as there was none left at 5:30. But this turned out to be the best decision we had made all weekend. We had the whole room to ourselves and it felt intimate. With just us in it with the chef and the waiter. For a place that’s a 4.5 star resort. I was excepting room service or at least all day dining. Everything is so spread out so if you wanna relax your still walking a country mile to get somewhere. I am still waiting for my $100 security deposit. A special Thank you to the staff that made it enjoyable. This Includes Luke, Renee, Curtis and Perry.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights recenlty on our way from Airlie Beach to Hamilton. It was refurbishes about 2 years ago after the cyclone and they have done an aamzing job. The hotel is beautiful and rooms are luxurious. We stayed on the west side with ocean views which I am so glad we did and worth the extra money. Rooms are spacious and modern. It would have been nice to have a spa bath as only had a shower. Beds comfortable and slept well. We had breakfast every day which was good quality, however don't think they are sticking to COVID rules as we were allowed to help ourselves at the buffet (a bit concerning). Swim up pool bar was great fun and pools were nice. I would have liked to go to a nice restaurant for dinner but totally overpriced. So we resorted to Tonic bar tapa's one night and pizza in our room the other. In general food was expensive and you can't take your own alcohol so this was costly as well. The living reef at the breakfast restaurant was nice to look at. You really can't swim in the ocean. The south end of island is terrible... run down, fenced off, debri left around and generally not kept tidy. We couldn't use kayaks or stand up paddle board as current to strong and water choppy. The Lover's Cove was nice to sit and look at but way to rough to swim and snorkle. No sand anywhwere... all coral on beach. Staff were always nice, friendly and accommodating (especially pool bar staff) but I wouldn't stay any longer than 2 nights as not much to do especially for kids. It was a nice way to start our holiday before Hamilton and resort nicer than the one we stayed in at Hamilton.

For the three nights we were there no one cleaned our room!, despite complaining the third day, they only came to offer toilet paper. Also the food was terrible, no variety, small portions and very expensive.

Rang to confirm my booking with the hotel as I had made reservations through 3rd party (snap travel) and was told that we cannot accept the booking as there is no rooms available and no roller beds for the child. They said never heard of snap travel and we cannot accept the booking . I asked to speak to the manager and he refused to speak to me and asked me to call snap travel and get a refund. How rude of him to first not wanting to talk to me and then telling me that they will not accept the booking even though I booked for 3 adults they can’t provide extra bedding and asked me to request refund. First of all you shouldn’t be giving out your rooms to 3rd party companies you haven’t heard of and then once booked telling customer that they can’t accept the booking and then ask customer to cancel booking and then manager refusing to speak to customer. What kinda customer service is this. Manager refusing to speak to customer. How rude !!!!

HI Bethany, The beaches are not wheelchair accessible as the beaches consist of coral. Our resort has wheelchair accessiblity for the first and ground floors . We like to inform guests that we have marine stingers around the island. The season runs from October to May. When staying at the resort we offer complimentary stinger suits to our guest to wear as a preventative measure. Look forward to seeing you Carmel Edike Front Office Manager
