The Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, part of the IHG group, garners praise for its prime location near the beach and the convenience of tram services. While some guests appreciate the spacious rooms with impressive views, others find the rooms outdated and in need of better maintenance. Cleanliness generally meets expectations, yet sporadic concerns are raised.
The service quality receives mixed feedback, from commendations of friendliness to criticisms over responsiveness. Furthermore, the perceived value is under debate, as some reviewers consider the hotel overpriced, especially given the lackluster atmosphere and extra costs.

Although the name suggests a central hotel in Surfers Paradise, this Crowne Plaza really is located more in Broadbeach. Easy walking to the beach and Broadbeach restaurants, but catch the tram to Surfers. Friendly receptionist Tamara got us room 2008 on the 20th floor, which gives you a small balcony and great ocean views over the length of the Coast. The room is pretty much international standard, but quite generous in size and everything you'd expect. We were a little disappointed that the TV only offered "free to air" channels, so no CNN, BBC or movie services. Bathroom had both a nice bath and walk-in shower ; like most hotels these days, all toiletries come in the form of pump bottles. Breakfast is the usual buffet style in a rather cold room next to the pool area ; the choice was more than adequate and we particularly liked the "make your own fresh juice" machine. Overall the Crowne is not an exciting place, but it offers good, clean quality at a very reasonable price.

I was one of the attendees for FurDU 2023 at the Crowne Plaza Gold Coast (11 - 15 May 2023), and I was very pleasantly surprised about my time at the hotel itself. Once I got to the hotel, I went to reception, took a little while to check in, the staff were very friendly and quite helpful. They explained to me some of the key features of the hotel itself, also the fact that I was one of their club members or something, and that I had free internet throughout my stay - which was a bonus - hardly ever used it though. As I walked back to the lift I checked my room number - which had a bit of significance with myself (give you a clue: the angelic number).
To get to your floor, just simply tap the card on the scanner, then press the floor, only took a matter of seconds before I reached mine, and not long before I had finally let myself into my room. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, as I placed my bags down I took a quick tour of the room to see what amenities I had. The bathroom was quite spacious, a rather large shower and plenty of towels etc (which came in handy). As I'd spent a long trip getting up to the hotel I was a bit on the sweaty side, so I got a quick change of clothes, had a quick shower (make sure the door clicks all the way in - otherwise you'll end up flooding the bathroom floor which is what I ALMOST did).
(There's so much positive stuff to write about the hotel - so I'll keep it short)
The bed itself, quite spacious, the pillows themselves were plenty enough, I found that I got a good night's sleep, and in the morning went down had some breakfast - a great selection to choose from, be it from hot food, to pastries, cereal and even fruit and yoghurt. Relish (the restaurant) takes care of breakfast in the morning, plenty of space to sit, have as much as you want to eat for breakfast and get out again.
Dinners were absolutely amazing, same spot, the staff were quite friendly, very quick to take my order (had the chicken parmi one night, the burger the next), and a beer or two to drink. The next night I went to the restaurant - I pretty much got the same spot where I sat last time, the wait staff even remembered what kind of beer I had from the night before ... now THAT'S impressive, also one aspect about service that I really enjoyed.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with the Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, so much so I honestly cannot wait to return next year to experience it all over again .. In all honesty there's nothing at all I can fault the hotel for .. a full 5 * review from all aspects of the hotel, the staff, the food and beverage and everything they've got to offer.
So, if you're looking for a place to stay, be it for a short trip away, or a longer vacation, depends on what you're doing, be it visiting the theme parks or the local attractions, I would, without hesitation, highly recommend your stay at the Crowne Plaza Surfer's Paradise, try and get a room with a high floor facing the beach as the views at night are absolutely stunning. With Sea World Gold Coast just up the road, and the rest of the theme parks further out, I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter what you get up to.

This hotel is in a good position outside of the hub of Surfers Paradise and close to the beach for long walks. Reception staff & cleaners were friendly during our 3 day Luxury Escapes stay which included full breakfast daily with plenty of choices. A good parking system (although it is $18 per day) great lifts and our room was quite spacious and on the 21st. floor with great views. Good quality towels, bed linen etc. Bottled water was complimentary but no biscuits were provided to have with a cup of tea/coffee. Nice looking pool (not heated) with a heated spa. One thing missing was the lack of Netflix or something similar as only the normal free to air channels are available.

I’ve stayed in a few Crowne Plaza hotels before but I won’t be staying at the one in Gold Coast again.
Let me start with the room. Very old furniture, TV had terrible reception, coffee pod machine did not work, and carpet was not vacuumed as I could feel sand when I walked on it. I could live with these issues but the howling noise coming from the wind through the balcony door was unbearable. I complained about this to reception who said that someone from maintenance would come the next day to have a look, but no-one ever came. I don’t know if reception just forgot about it because whenever you asked for something like an extra towel or box of tissues it would always take a long time to come and sometimes you had to ask again.
The buffet breakfast could really do with another coffee machine as there was always a long queue. On one day the muffins were served frozen. Even when they were heated on the other days they were terrible. I’m not sure what the policy is on taking food from the buffet back to your room but it would really help if this was highlighted somewhere. It was very embarrassing when I wanted to take a yogurt tub and an apple back to my room and was stopped by a staff member.
The pool and spa were dirty and the gym only had 3 pieces of equipment.

After looking at reviews of this hotel, we picked this hotel due to its location, 15min walk to the beach, tram stop across the road. Ocean view room. check in was fine, The room was lovely we could not fault the location. The only area that disappointed was the dinning / bar area, no atmosphere at all, maybe because its a wide open space linked to the reception area. We did not book breakfast or half board, we did buy a few snack meals which were fine. Very nice pool area, but the pool is not heated, and you need to be quick to get a sun bed. Bar prices are a bit high, but you can get cheaper drinks and food just down the street at the bowls club, no membership required. We did have 1 meal in the bar restaurant next door, which was just about ok. The hotel was very busy as it was still school holiday time. And also some of the recent storms that hit the local area forced some of the locals to come and stay in the hotel due to power outages.

Had 1 night here. Hotel looks like it has been given a good paint and make over. Very Nice and very modern and very fresh. Rooms are very large and our room has the biggest TV in any hotel I have stayed in. Room was quiet and black out curtains blocked out the sun for a very restful sleep. Buffet breakfast was of a good quality and plentiful. Underground car park was large and plenty of spaces. very happy with stay and will be back.

We booked the penthouse for 4 people two adults and 2 kids ! We are IHG members so usually get an upgrade . But since being on the penthouse where else could we go . They were nice and gave us points and two drink vouchers. As we went to the room we were it was very underwhelming . We had one bedroom with one bed . The apartment is so outdated . I had to go to reception and explain we booked for 4 people and had one bed , no pull out sofa . They did send to trundle beds up that sat next to the dinning table !! All the glass over looking the balcony were extremely dirty . We went to the revolving restaurant on the top floor and paid $410 for 2 adults and a 8 and 6 yr old . You can imagine the kids didn’t eat a lot of food ! The food was very disappointing especially for the price ! The seating was so squished in it was hard to get in and out from the table . Will definitely not be heading back to eat there and until renovations happen will not stay there again . Also buffet breakfast was terrible, we went early and so much food was empty.

Booked a room with two single beds received a king, When asked for single beds we were told we had booked a standard room so that’s what we were getting. The king bed is two singles that could be pulled apart to be made into singles. No complimentary shampoos, conditioners etc.. rang “twice” before we received some. Unfortunately I was already in the shower when I realized there weren’t any with wet hair had to wash my hair with the soap 🤣 Could not work out why the aircon wasn’t working. The room was stuffy so left balcony doors open to try and cool it down. Rang reception again! 4th time.. she asked in a disgruntled way, if our balcony doors were open.. I said yes, we have them open because we can’t get the aircon to work and it’s stuffy.. she then told us we had to close the doors so we could activate the control panel of the aircon.
Otherwise room was very clean and comfy. Had a nice view out to sea, our dinner was delicious, staff in restaurant were great!
Little things, but annoying.. might be helpful for all if there was a manual to explain things in the hotel room.. would have been nice to know pool times etc but didn’t want to ring reception again, I think they were sick of me!

A very friendly staff, outstanding. From manager to junior staff. Not a knowledgeable staff though. Little information around, have to ask, staff were not sure about certain matters eg tram ticket or bus ticket or where is a post box. Rooms have bare necessities, don't expect 4 star amenities. Cleaning was quick if they actually did it. No attention was paid by staff to not to change towels. Room service food one night was a Thai curry, no mention of chicken in menu but loaded with chicken, poor value. Breakfast was same, same, same . Best to go out for breakfast if you stay longer than 3 days. Two staff who were friendly and helpful, Andrew and Nicole. Great position.

Really nice room, not cheap with a view but the staff were very accommodating and considerate being my Birthday I will definitely consider attending again in the future.
The Horizon sky dining was particularly very impressive (also expensive); great food especially seafood although oysters were average the staff were very attentive and pleasant.
They gave me free parking for dining which was great being $18 for next day. I would recommend dining before sundown as you can't see much of the view.
I especially loved the breakfast buffet and am thankful for the gift, despite the lift not working on arrival, there were free drinks.
All around it felt like my first holiday in years. I wish the pool was not so icy cold but is the only negative thing. My partner also enjoyed our time there.
As a local I was a bit sceptical of the price to stay and dine at Crowne but I definitely have no regrets spending the money as the experience was truly amazing.
