Hi, I've stayed in 5 different hostels in cairns. I ended up staying in the Jack from June on until December. The difference between this hostel and any other one is just it gives backpacker the feeling of being home. They've got loads of space, the rooms are nice and clean, the common areas are very comfortable and spacious. It's...

Lovely clean hostel, rooms get cleaned everyday (ours was cleaned by an amazing woman called Harriett), good atmosphere and everyone was extremely helpful. FREE meal every night which was so good! Jason at reception literally could not do enough for us. The staff are a credit to the hostel! And the location was brilliant too, overall great stay.

The time I stayed at the jack was amazing, every department was flawless from spotless comfortable rooms, impeccable bar service with great offers for backpackers and the food was out of this world, the must have great chefs! I will defiantly return, very highly recommend thanks to the jack crew Rhys

I was fortunate enough to stay in a room by myself even though it was a 4 bed dorm but the noise level was unbearable at times. The balcony rooms face directly across a huge bar so on the weekends they have a live rock band playing until late in the night. I stayed 2 weeknights and 1 weekend night....

Good sized lockers and trays underneath the beds to put your bags in, which keeps room tidy. Fridge in room which is great. Beds a bit shaky when climbing up to top bunk, so it didn't feel too stable. Bathroom small but fine. Cheaper drinks in the bar when showing your room key, however staff did not mention this so...

I've spent my fair share of time in hostels across Europe and a few in Australia. This is by far the best value for your dollar and the cleanest hostel I have ever been. The staff is friendly, particularly Jason who works at the front desk was very helpful and always obliging when I wanted to change out bedding (I...

Clean and tidy, but rooms v hot in summer time with not great aircon. Decent free evening meals, and pretty good portion size, if you are looking for a lively hostel this is good for you, it's rather loud at night but ear plugs sorted that out. Very basic rooms, but that's all you need.

The room was terrible. My boyfriend and I booked a private room with twin beds because there was no queen bed room available. The photo on the booking page showed two separate beds so we figured we would put them together but ended up with a bunk bed instead. The room was stuffy with no real window, there was a...

this is a good hostel, you get a free evening meal included which is served in the Union jack bar next door. There is also discount on drinks if you show the bar your key. The rooms are a good size ( I was in a 4 bed dorm with ensuit) and are kept clean. Th staff are also friendly...

I don't recommend this place. Does not feel homely. The room smelled bad and there was a scent sprayed automatically from an electronic scent dispenser every hour, this smelled terrible. The bunks are cheap and squeaky, you can't turn off the air-con, the blinds didn't close properly, the bathrooms need renovating. Very loud.

Thank Alexandra R
