Novotel Brisbane South Bank is often celebrated for its spotless and comfortable rooms, though a few guests mention noise and maintenance issues. The service is generally regarded as attentive, notwithstanding occasional slower interactions. While opinions on value vary, with some dissatisfaction over room selection and upgrades, many find the rooms and breakfast to be worth the price. The hotel's atmosphere is contemporary and inviting, offering pleasant views and a prime location that provides easy access to local attractions. However, there are some concerns about the pool temperature and gym equipment.

I would give this Hotel 10 stars if I could. Everything was just perfect. The team member at check in was lovely and made everything so easy. My luck with rooms is terrible, doesn't matter what I pay I get the carpark view. Not this time with no special request from us but we were put on the top floor with a great view for new years eve. We even received a nice bottle of wine on arrival. The room has all the amenities u need and the dyson hair dryer is first class. All the staff are fantastic and the food is the same. Breakfast buffet has plenty to choose from and the dinner menu is just the same. There is nothing I can fault and you won't be disappointed if you stay. No need to even bring any toiletries or a pool towel as there are high quality in your bathroom and by the pool. We will definitely be back.

This trip was my third or fourth stay here. While I enjoy the vibe of South Bank and all it has to offer, being a few minutes away is quieter and also opens up other options for parks and peace, scooter riding fun or West End action. The staff here are always attentive, and the variety of rooms I've experienced have a common thread of being well decorated, clean, comfortable and quiet. This is undoubtedly my favourite Brissy place to stay for work or downtime.

We came in to see a show at the Qld Performing Arts Centre and the Novotel is within walking distance. As a Platinum Accor member we were upgraded to an executive room on the 9th Floor overlooking the park and breakfast was included. Due to Covid rules we had to book a time for breakfast and order a selection from the menu. It's a very modern hotel and the staff are very helpful.

We had previously stayed at Novotel South Bank at the height of the COVID lockdown last May and as the place was virtually empty we had a reasonable stay. This second visit though revealed some shortcomings.

Firstly the location. Even though the hotel name suggests it is located in South Bank, it is a 10 minute walk to South Bank, which can be an issue in wet weather as we encountered. In fact, apart from the expensive restaurant in the hotel there is nothing within a few blocks of the hotel. So while the location isn't terrible, it's not great either.

Our second gripe was the front desk staff. We had cause to interact with them on 4 occasions during our 2 night stay. While we were polite and friendly none of the 4 or so staff we interacted with showed even the remote sign of being welcoming. It reminded me of a trip that I did to Eastern Europe many years ago. And it wasn't only us, our friends that were also staying a the hotel had the same experience. Further, our package came with a bottle of (very cheap) wine but we had to ask the front desk for it 3 times before we finally received it.

Thirdly, while the hotel rooms are very modern and reasonably well appointed. even with both sliding doors to the bathroom closed there is a 1 metre by 800 mm cap under the sink which faces directly in to the room. If one needs to use the bathroom during the night the bedroom area is flooded in bright light. Now this is obviously part of the process of trying to make the room appear open and stylish, but it is a major functional flaw.

On the positive side, our breakfast in the dining room was very good and the staff their were very helpful. I manage to break a glass in the room (well actually it fell out of the bar fridge when I first opened it) and the house keeping staff were very efficient and friendly.

All in all it was a disappointing experience and we are unlikely to return.

Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were great, you have to get the basics right before you add the cherry on top.
We were delighted with our room upgrade, spacious and lovely with chocolates waiting for my birthday/our anniversary.
Breakfast is plentiful and it's clear that efforts are being made to reduce both single use items and food wastage. Eggs can be made to order so no complaints here.
By getting the basics right we mean room servicing - the bathroom should be cleaned daily which is wasn't - taps on the sink hadn't been cleaned and the glasses/cups we'd used hadn't either. Would also have liked some bottled water in the room.

My wife & I have just returned home after a most enjoyable 10 night stay at this hotel, 7 night Luxury Escapes package and 3 night Accord package, all in a King "N Room. Same room allocated for the duration as per our request. Room comfortable and bright, not the best views from the window but that wasn't a worry. Comfortable bed welcomed us back daily, nice modern ensuite area with ample toiletries and large fluffy towels. Room maintained virtually pristine for the duration of our stay. Friendly smile & greeting on arrival and whenever departing and returning to hotel. Check-in & out efficient and quick. We liked the location opposite a quiet park, minimal noise in room even with heavy traffic on Cordelia Street. Great choice of restaurants and cafes within comfortable walking distanced. Southbank promenade and adjacent attractions also within walking distance.
I'd like to thank the hotel for the cancellation policy during Covid; we had to cancel on two previous occasions due to snap lockdowns in both WA & QLD, the hotel delivered on each occasion.

As soon as we checked into the hotel we were told there was a laundry problem so we may not receive clean towels. Really? No apology, just a typed memo and a verbal reiteration of what the memo said. Okay so we received clean towels after two nights. Then we went to the hotel's restaurant. The wait staff were exceptional.. friendly and most helpful. First night the food and service were good. Second night we ordered the eye fillet at $45 each which had grizzle through the middle. I had to spit out a mouthful as I couldn't swallow it. Our knives struggled to cut the meat around the grizzle. Unacceptable for that price. Tonight we only felt like a drink and a small meal so I perused the barfood menu and decided we could make a small meal out of the sliders. We ordered a cocktail after being told they'd run out of my first pick, 4 x sliders (2 prawn and 2 wagyu beef) sat down, got our drinks. THEN was told they've run out of sliders. Good service is being told BEFORE you order and settle in, which items that aren't available. So I ordered pita bread. I received my cocktail at $21 plus 15% public holiday surcharge and it arrived looking quite poorly. Photo attached. The management will probably gaslight me as though I'm just being fussy or whinging but I've travelled A LOT and stay in hotels every week for my work. I won't be renewing my Accor membership as I don't feel the quality is up to scratch. Apart from this, our room was clean and well appointed.

Great hotel with a happy, modern vibe. Only 2 years old so contemporary in design with lovely rooms, innovative bathroom design, very well thought out with ample lighting for makeup, shaving etc and clever sliding mirrored panels to open and close the bathroom off from the bedroom. Shower was hot and powerful, the bed was super comfy and good quiet aircon. The room lighting too was very stylish and the room could be made bright or subdued which I personally feel is really important.

Reception staff were very friendly and efficient and obviously very well trained in customer service. They appeared very happy and nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was very nice - $28 for breakfast with a choice of full English, Continental, Healthy alternative etc plus a barista coffee. Or guests can just order a coffee and toast etc if the $28 option is more than they want to eat.

Parking at the hotel is $32 for 24 hrs and if the spaces within the hotel itself are full the hotel directs guests to park in the Convention Centre around the corner which costs $28 for 24 hrs with entry and exits as needed in both cases.

The hotel's location is excellent, a 5 minute stroll to Qpac, the Convention Centre and all the Grey St restaurants.

Really liked everything about this hotel and will definitely stay there next time we visit. It definitely fulfills its 4.5 star rating IMO and then some.

Stayed for 2 nights to see a show at QPAC; hotel location is fine and we had a lovely view over Musgrave Park but take note of the frequency of reviews that mention being sent to off-site parking a couple of blocks away. This is not a big issue in itself but you will need to factor in extra time to retrieve the car and drive it to the hotel to collect guests with mobility issues and to load up the suitcases at checkout. Recommend you check with the hotel for onsite parking if you think you need it. Room was new and clean but the lack of bathroom privacy is a massive design flaw and really needs to be rectified by at least providing frosted glass between the bathroom and bedroom. Our room was serviced daily which was appreciated. Breakfast on the first day was fine; second day was a bit lacklustre with no butter for toast and one of our group missed out on bacon. Wait staff were friendly and attentive though. Loved the pool itself; the paving in the pool area is dark and retains the heat making it really hot to walk on during the day. There was an awful smell emanating from the garden area opposite the lounges; there was also a chest freezer at the pool entry with a sign advertising free Zooper Doopers but there was just a heap of ice build up inside that needed defrosting and no Zooper Doopers in sight.....it was a nice thought though and would provide a point of difference given the competition for hotel business in the Southbank precinct. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful; a work uniform would be recommended though as some dress standards were very casual and not in line with customer expectations of a brand-name establishment. Would I recommend a stay here......yes, if it's just one person staying as the bathroom privacy issue won't be a problem; for more than one person I would recommend to book elsewhere.

Dear O2038BHkarenb, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Brisbane South Bank. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. At Novotel, we do take all the feedback seriously and appreciate every comment. When it comes to the car park on site we are pretty honest with the situation. We do not have enough spots to accommodate all the guests, especially if they bring 2 or more cars. Hence the BCEC car park, which is a 2 minute walk, is our secondary option. Some of our packages that are booked directly with us come with the parking included in the rate. So the priority has to be given to those guests. If you decide to come back and stay with us again, you could try our corner room. They are more spacious rooms overlooking the city that have a proper en-suite for more privacy during stay. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Sasha Front Office Assistant Manager

Having stayed at the hotel before we contacted our friendly contacts Theresa and Mandy to book us interconnecting rooms that would be suitable for our family to enjoy a weekend away.
