I'm originally from Darwin and upon the birth of my son decided it was time to leave London for a visit back home to introduce him to the family. Luckily everyone agreed to meet up in Darwin for the two weeks which was perfect. I spent six months researching online trying to find somewhere luxurious to stay in Darwin as...

A thoroughly amazing experience all round. The villa we stayed in was incredible in both design and location. We hardly saw anyone during the 4 days we were there. The lack of a formal reception gives the place more of a homely feel than rented accommodation. However, when something was needed a quck phone call delivered far more than was...

We stayed at Moonshadow in the Birdsong Villa for two nights and wish we had have stayed longer. Yes it is a little more expensive but it is well worth it. We were overwhelmingly welcomed without even seeing the host and left in peace to enjoy our stay. Chocolates, Champas and the coffee is to die for! The rooms were...

Rather than travel to Bali I choose Moonshadow Villa's for a surprise weekend getaway and what a wonderful experience it was. Mine hosts Moya and Peter ensured our every need was catered for with a minimum of fuss. Nothing, and I mean nothing was too much trouble. We had the Orchid Villa with an incredibly comfortable king bed, plus direct...

Moonshadow villas is our first choice of accommodation when in Darwin. We have stayed in three of the five villas so far, and find them all extremely comfortable and buitifully decorated in the balinese style. Lush rainforest gardens keep each villa very private and peacful. Peter & Moya excel with their hospitality and are very generous with complimentary extras. We'll...

As a frequent business traveller to Darwin I was looking for a quiet alternative to the standard high rise hotel. I find the standard hotel expensive, noisy and impersonal. Moonshadow Villas came highly recommended to me by a friend of mine and I now regularly stay there whenever I travel to Darwin. What attracts me to Moonshadow Villas is difficult...

I was totally overwhelmed by the amgnificent surroundings, the gardens, the water features, the care and attention to detail was amazing as was the manner in which the villas were decorated and presented. I don't think we have ever stayed in cleaner, more spotlessly presented accommodation. The privacy the villas afforded and the fact that they are located a stones...

Accommodation in Darwin is basic at best. We wanted to find somewhere nice, as we got really cheap airfares. Discovered Moonshadow, and decided to spend the money. It is not cheap at over au$400 per night per villa unit (low season cost), but these sleep 4 so you can split costs. Arrived at midnight and found bubbly and beer waiting...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
5 STAR and GREEN STAR Accredited Less than one minute to Darwin City. Stay in a Rainforest less than a minute by shuttle or car to the city centre or an easy to medium walk Our goal is to give our residents a true 5 STAR tropical experience. Why come to the tropics to stay in 'normal' surroundings? Stay where there are butterflies and living vertical gardens that provide privacy. Enjoy your own tropical mini-home, fully self-contained with luxurious and comfortable king size beds (and beautiful linen). The 5 villas are award winning, architect designed and unique accommodation. Surrounded by 80 foot palms and grouped around two sandstone pools, Every villa has its OWN laundry, all cooking facilities, full size refrigerator and is fully air-conditioned. Every villa has direct pool access and its own al fresco dining area and verandas with private gardens and courtyards. The property has wild-life and birds and has been designed to be part of nature - it is not a soundproofed concrete structure. Our visitors say that Moonshadow is the only way to truly experience the wonders of the tropics. A destination as well as accommodation. ... more   less

“I stayed in Bridsong Apartment and found it to be secluded, beautifully appointed and completely quiet!”

“Whilst we enjoyed being met at the Airport, we were not expecting the ~$70 for the 8 minutes that we were in the car - I wish I had asked for the price beforehand. If this was not our honeymoon, I would've opted for the much cheaper shuttle bus (~approx $12 per person).”
