Strange old place. No elevator to get to any floors. Had to carry luggage to top floor which is 5th floor. Rooms were outdated and separate bathroom and shower across from room. There is a small sink in room. Staff are friendly. I would not return to this hotel again. Location is not too bad it is 10mins walking distance...

I stayed in a single room on level 5 with shared facilities for one night in January 2017. This old hotel is located in the center of the CBD with close proximity to everything. The room price reflects that it is a budget hotel in central Sydney but with good value. The reception is behind the bar on the ground...

Clean, basic B&B style hotel, it was above a pub. Lift not working correctly but fine to walk up as I'm able. Breakfast included in a lovely small communal breakfast lounge. Would stay again as price reflects the accommodation.

My family with young children stayed mid January. I am aware of the very negative reviews here and think some of the comments were very far fetched. Perhaps they were travel snobs? It is by no means a glamorous hotel, it is designed to be just a place to stay at a budget. I arrived at 12:30am and had trouble...

Good location, fast check in, self check out. No aircond but for dec nights still fine. Street noise bearable. Old fashioned but neat and clean so treat it as an antique touch, you feel good. Manually operated lift, yes, a new experience so the fact there is a lift so no complain. Good quality fruit juices, cereals and cookies, even...

I made a booking to stay at The Grand Hotel for one night and would suggest no one ever comes here - it's not worth the hassle. When I arrived that night before final check in time of 10pm the building was dark and locked, and a note on the door directed me to call someone to let me in...

We've stayed here on two occasions because it's cheap, central, easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go, including the Opera House and the Art Gallery of NSW. We save money and are happy to share facilities, but perhaps it's easier in winter than summer as there is no air conditioning. Lift is useable but would be tricky for some,...

The staff was super! Maria, one of the managers, made sure we were taken care of even though I booked rooms that were too small for the party I was traveling with. The bartender, Laura was amazing and super helpful for not only things to do, but what beers to try. The hotel is not a five star resort, but...

Clean and tidy, free breakky for stayers, fruit, toast tea, cereal etc. Lift is dangerous, no good for elderly people. No aircon in room, which is the only reason we would not stay in warmer months again. Staff were marvellous to us as hubby was very ill the night we stayed. 2 mins walk to Wynyard Station. Phone calls to...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
