My travelling friend and me stayed here for three months while we worked at a bar in Sydney. We moved here from Nomads which was pricy and awful to quite frank. We stayed in Room 42, girls be only 10 bed dorm which was roomy with high ceilings. Everyone had their own large locker. There was a fridge in the... More

Easy to find hostel only a short walk from Town Hall or Museum stations (fantastic if you are arriving by train from the airport). Reception staff were friendly and offered maps and travel advice. Unfortunately they were doing construction work on Wilmot St while I was there so there was a lot of noise coming through our bedroom windows (facing... More

The bed is too small, and the environment of the hostel is terrible. The kitchen is filthy, and the shower system is flawed. While i was showering, the shower literally just broke and fall on the ground. And good luck if you are sleeping on the upper bunk bed, because you may not even have your own power socket. Not... Even though we didn't expect much (being a backpackers), the experience was below our already low expectations. Wifi was very bad and everything looked a bit dull. The proximity to the main CBD area and the free shuttle service provided are some of the few good points.

no refund, dirty, bad wifi and hard mattresses, lots of stuff stolen, cockroaches everywhere, small fridges, too many long terms that literally live there, only one small kitchen and dishes always dirty, there was a knife fight, food always stolen, rooms are too small for the beds, air con blows and dont work at all, not enough room to eat... I stayed in a de luxe single room. I don't think you could get a better room in the centre of Sydney for the price I paid. Staff were polite, but over worked. They need to have more staff on so they have time to give customers better service. However, despite this reservation I can recommend it for someone wanting... More

I've stayed at the Sydney Backpackers twice now, once in 2012 and once in 2015. It definitely improved since my initial stay. The staff did the bare minimum and weren't particularly friendly, but I also had no issues with them. It's a very basic place, but for the price and location, it is definitely worth staying there. You can basically... More

Stayed here a few nights while in sydney, was a amazing location and as good as any other hostel I've stayed in. Staff were always friendly and helpful whenever I needed anything. Tons of restaurants and other things around open later than the rest of the city!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
