We stayed here only as Sydney was pretty much booked out. As a result this wasn't cheap and certainly more than it was worth. A lovely old building gone to seed. Worn carpets, old unventilated bathrooms, tiny bed the list goes on. Clueless reception. Never again.

A weekend trip to Sydney to watch the Bledisloe rugby game. Cheap room at our favourite boutique hotel close to shops and a short walk to Sydney CBD. No surprises with good service even allowing an early room! The room was small and a little noisy, and it as nice as previous stays. But then the room was comfortable and...

A more interesting heritage option than the standard nondescript business hotel. Perfectly located for St Vincents & Oxford St. Helpful service from the reception staff, who know the local area well. Clean rooms - check ahead though, as mine was very small and both of its windows opened into public hallways, not outside - weird! Generous continental breakfasts included -...

Lovely old style hotel centrally located to restaurants in Surry Hills and SCG etc. Clean and interesting place to stay. Staff went well out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. Love the old memorabilia which added to the charm of the hotel. Bus stops close by.

A delightful heritage hotel converted from a Victorian villa and furnished with period pieces and artwork. Huge room (quieter at the back) and comfortable and clean. Only negative was that I could not get wifi in my room (OK downstairs in lounge). One block from heart of Paddington

Taking a few days getaway to Sydney we booked into the Manor House Boutique Hotel. Walking into the foyer for the first time was a pleasure and staff very friendly even with a late check in due to flights. The room was marvellous and just what we were seeking. Whilst we were at the Flinders Street end of the hotel...

Great old hotel. Comfy bed, quiet and nice large room, good heating for a cold winters night! Close to the football stadium and CBD. Breakfast included is a bonus. Rooms upstairs are the quietest. Will definitely stay again. Good $ value for Sydney.

We choose this hotel due to the address and proximity to shops cafes etc. lovely old hotel and great service. We stayed in the Manor King room, which is a great size and has a private balcony. The bed is really comfortable and the furniture lovely. Don't care about a few worn areas or cup stains on the wood...it is...

Booked through booking.com. Great value considering location in Sydney city. Rooms are very spacious and well appointed. Quiet as well. Hotel has entertaining area and an added feature of a "Celebrities lounge". A nice and relaxing place to stay.

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
