What a lovely little property! We spent three nights at the Castlereagh while recently holidaying in Sydney and were very pleased with everything about it. The staff were extremely helpful and professional especially Armindo the front desk manager. Loved our room which was spacious and spotless. Also appreciated there was a washer and dryer available on our floor. The building...

I previously phoned my booking and had a confirmation through a staff member called Dennis. On my arrival I was met by a most unhelpful duty manager who tried to turn me away. 45 mins later I got a room. No apology for their admin mistake. I was made to feel like the proloteriat. Such arrogance pomposity and conceit. The...

Dear Sanguige Thank you for your review of your stay with us. I am so sorry to hear of your experience. Location is good. Hotel itself is neat, clean and beautiful, but the mattress is way too soft. I had a broken back the next day and went to see a chiropractor. Will visit again if they upgrade their mattresses.

Great old world hotel- had a clean quiet room on 11th floor. Good hot shower & WIFI! Very close to transport, QVB, State Theatre, and Pitt St mall shopping. A little slow on front desk at busy times but fine unless you're in a rush. There on a Sunday so can't review room service/restaurant options.

Clean place, strategically located. Breakfast served is the same daily, so its not advisable to take it more than a day. Though place is comfortable, the staff are not too friendly. Room a little cramped but the ideal location overshadows it all.

This has got to be the worst hotel I have stayed in ..... in a very long time! The staff were so bad it was comical, we couldn't check in to our room because their computer was down (apparently) and the room I was put in felt like I was staying in the motel room in the Psycho movie. The...

I'd not stayed here before, and I was a bit apprehensive after seeing mixed reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised and had a lovely stay. Location is perfect. A few minutes easy walking can get you to Hyde Park, town hall, QVB, and several train stations. A bit further, but you're still within a 10-20 minute walk to the Opera...

The hotel claims affordable accommodation downtown and delivers on that. It's rated a 4 star hotel but seemed more like a 3. The rooms are small except for the corner rooms on the end of the floor. In Sydney for a week on business. The only thing going for this hotel was it was close to where I needed to be daily. Bed needed to be replaced, room was tiny but clean. The atmosphere in the bar and dining area was awful because of the lack of patronage.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
