I had booked Sir Stamford through trip adviser based on their reviews but was unaware of their wifi policy whereby wifi is charged at $25 a day notwithstanding a basic room only cost of $350 - $400. This is a policy that is clearly discriminatory to foreign visitors and a profit maximising opportunity from a captive audience given most local...

This is the Third time we have stayed at the Sir Stamford and I am afraid it is going down hill. We actually stayed two nights with a trip to Fiji in between. First surprise came when we checked in and asked if we could store some luggage (we had just come off a cruise) and were told there would...

Sit in the delightful breakfast room and enjoy a buffet breakfast at the Sir Stamford. Staff are attentive and the food is very good. A lovely street view and it is located a stone's throw to Circular Quay and the Rocks.

Wow. Just wow. Such a beautiful old building, furnished elegantly exactly as it would have been over 100 years ago, it was like stepping back in time. Our room had a sweet Juliet balcony, solid marble lined bathroom including the vanity, tasteful chandeliers and cut glass lighting, walnut bed head, mahogany writing desk with bankers lamp....I felt like I was...

We stayed here last night after watching Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. We walked to the opera and around circular quay. This hotel has an old fashion charm that gives a really nice and cosy feeling. The room we had was very big and clean. We didn't have much contact with the staff beside checkin and checkout.

This hotel is in a great location, just a few minute walk to the Opera House and Quay. It is like an English manor house of yesteryear filled with classic styling and classic rooms. The dining room serves good food at a fair price. Concierge service is excellent, with directions and suggestions for activities, restaurants etc.

The hotel is rather quant, different to your typical large chains. Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
