Absolutely wonderful stay! Stayed in dekixe opera house view - room was gorgeous, bed like sleeping on a cloud, bathroom was lovely (and bath deliciously comfortable). If you're treating yourself then this is a must! Also buffet breakfast so many options, v tasty. Just perfect really.

This was recommended by many friends before we even booked a holiday to Australia. We were so pleased we took their advice and booked club rooms at the beginning and end of our tour. The views were absolutely fantastic. The first corner room had panoramic views right to the point at which the harbour opens out into the sea. The...

It's not a 5 star hotel . 4 at best . The staff are all wonderful and very helpful . It's 100 metres to the bridge and to the Opera House - perfect . Plenty of place to eat at the Rocks . Sake the best of them , the Pony was also excellent if you love steak . The...

We booked an executive suite grand harbour view room and paid $880 for 1 night. We arrived 11am at the hotel and was not given access to our room until 3.30pm! It then took another hour for our suitcase to be brought up. The worst part was our suite that was located on level 6 with a view of the...

Our stay was amazing. From the minute we walked in to our departure. Could not fault a thing. Horizon club is a lovely touch, it made coming with small kids very comforting. Service was perfect, such attentive service. We'll be back! This is the view from our room.

Stayed here for three nights prior to a cruise. The views of Sydney harbour are priceless, and the location is 'walker friendly'. Staff were very helpful, and the selection of food for breakfast would suit any taste.

We stayed for two weeks in the Shangri-La in Sydney. Location was great. We arrived early in the morning and waited for more than 6 hours to be allocated to our room. We were told that guests were checking out late today. They did offer for a bottle of wine to be sent to our room which never arrived. Our...

Stayed here with my husband just after our wedding celebrations and loved every second of it, so decided to stay here again for our 1 year anniversary. On our second visit, the Shangri-La Sydney team surprised us with a box of delicious chocolates and champagne. We stayed in a king opera house view room.. It was quite large and very...

Superb hotel in an excellent location in the Rocks area of the CBD. The staff were fantastic in very respect, just couldn't fault them. Breakfast at Aus$45 per head seemed rather expensive so we ate at a local cafe instead. The gym and pool are good and it is worth visiting the bar on the top floor just for the...

We stayed here for the final two nights of our trip to Australia which had started about a month earlier in Perth - what a great way to finish. This was our third visit to Sydney and the hotel matched our previous experiences. It is set in a brilliant location and we had a corner suite with a great view...

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
