We booked at the Shangri la Sydney and I must say that we did have an enjoyable time. The hotel is well located and is run reasonably well however its not a patch on the Shangri las of Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong or Sabah (Rasa Ria). The rooms are getting a little outdated, the breakfast buffet was OK but the...

Great venue but air conditioning was very dry causing me sleep problem. Had to keep two bottles of water by the bed. Service, food and spar were very good. Steep walk to the rocks was a bit of a pain.

I had a wonderful stay here. I found the room to be much larger than expected and had the best imaginable view out over the Opera House and Bridge. Because its slightly up the hill it can be a very slight walk (very slight) but its worth it for the incredible views. Its also about a 10 minute flat walk...

Really pleased with this hotel, the views were absolutely stunning (that's what you pay for!). The bed was really comfortable, noise was minimal. Mini bar is expensive but then it always would be in an expensive hotel. Pool is lovely and calming, they also have a gym and a very expensive spa (but again, that's to be expected in such...

Stayed on the 16th floor with a breathtaking view of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pretty close to everything. Room service was so expensive and so was the restaurant and at the restaurant on the 36th floor you don't get much for what you pay, but the food is delicious. The staff...

The best part of the hotel is the amazing view of the Opera House on one side and the cruise terminal. The Sydney bridge is next door. The service is good and so is the breakfast spread. Public transport is easily accessible and the higher floor rooms are recommended

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
