YEHS Hotel - Sydney Harbour Suites offers spacious rooms bathed in natural light, which some guests appreciate for the comfort they provide. However, the service has been criticized for being slow and unresponsive, especially during periods of renovation. While the central location is a highlight for many, the atmosphere is somewhat diminished by outdated aspects, and noise levels from traffic and thin walls frequently disrupt rest. The hotel's value is brought into question by issues surrounding cleanliness and ongoing construction, leaving some guests dissatisfied.

My wife & I arrived for our 4 day stay having flown down from Cairns that morning and we were given room 507. We quickly unpacked but couldn’t get the safe to work so reception came up and could not get it to work either so it was logged for maintenance to fix next morning. During the night around 2 am I was wakened by water dripping from the roof presumably from the air conditioning which I switched off. I placed a bucket underneath and eventually it stopped. I reported this to reception next morning and they assured me it would be fixed along with the safe. When we came back around 6pm the following night to get changed for dinner the safe was working and I put on the air conditioning before heading out to dinner around 8pm. On our return just before 11 water was all over the floor and coming through the roof the same as the previous night only worse. I went straight to reception to report this and was instantly offered an upgrade to a suite which we took - it was inconvenient to pack all our clothes away at that time of night but worth it to get a bigger room 807. The reception staff could not be faulted as they were pleasant at all times whenever we came into the Hotel or were going out. We also used the coffee/breakfast shop on the corner where Hotel guests enjoyed a 15% discount. The Hotel is perfectly located for Darling Harbour - a 5 min walk to a host of restaurants and bars in a magnificent setting.

Definitely only a 3star hotel. Room has a great layout and fully self contained. Hotel claims refurbished rooms but our room badly needed a fresh coat of paint on all walls and cupboard doors. The furnishings had definitely been upgraded which were nice but this made the other parts of the room look even shabbier. Sadly there had been dirty underwear and socks left in our laundry tub in the room and the toilet lid and seat were up giving the impression a male had used the toilet and it had not been cleaned. This made us wonder just how clean was our room ? The shower dispenser with shampoo and body wash had the bare minimum in them which also gave the hotel a cheap appearance. We were not given the complimentary toiletries until we reported the dirty underwear still in our room and the lack of shampoo and body wash in the dispensers. The hotel definitely has potential and the location of the hotel is brilliant. However, cleaning staff need to ensure each room has been thoroughly cleaned. It would be nice if the toilet was sealed with the strip of paper that gives the guest peace of mind and each room should automatically be given the complimentary toiletries regardless of how much the guest has paid. These few little details will make an impression on the guests and get returning customers. With minimum effort the hotel could be rated as an excellent value for money hotel which would see plenty of return customers I'm sure. At the moment you get what you pay for and no more!

The location of this hotel was perfect. Across the road was the walkway to Darling Harbour, turn left out their door and it is a short walk to Haymarket and the Entertainment Area. Up the hill a short walk to the main shopping center of Sydney. We stayed Fri and Sat and got a fantastic deal for the 2 nights which included breakfast at the attached Brew Bros Cafe. The included breakfast had a few choices and we got the bacon and egg roll but had to pay extra if we wanted a drink with it. Our room was large with a full kitchen, lounge area and bedroom. The only complaint I'd have is the shower needed a bit of attention. Maybe some new grout? It's also very tiny.

We booked one of the double story penthouses for our yearly weekend trip away with friends. As dated as the decor was, it was ok- the rooms were spacious and balcony was huge.BUT the smell of Mold was absolutely eye stinging and breath taking. There was visible mold in the bathrooms and the bedrooms were almost impossible to sleep in due to the smell- we kept windows open the whole weekend and told the reception about the smell. They installed an air freshener for us. The dishwasher had not been used or cleaned for a long time and it smelled like a putrid rotten fish pond sending us all out of the room as we opened it. We spent most of our time out of the room, luckily. As I arrived back home and opened my suitcase, the mold smell had penetrated through all my clothes during the weekend as my suitcase was on the floor. Unfortunately this well located property is in dire need of thorough renovations. I would not stay there until it is renovated and the extreme mold issue is addressed and fixed- It really cannot be healthy for anyone at the moment. Staff were nice and friendly.

While a bit tired in some areas this apartment is clean, tidy and very well located. Close to Chinatown, Town Hall Rail Station and Cockle Bay, it is very well located.

The cost is more than reasonable given the location.

All the mod cons, washing machine and drier, oven, cook top, microwave and TVs.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went a step or two further to make our stay enjoyable.

Oooh, the cafe next door is excellent offering a 15% discount to Seasons guests.

Highly recommended.

This hotel was not my first choice, but I was slightly disappointed with what I received. The price of a room is indecently high for the quality of services offered, the cleanliness that leaves much to be desired, the constant noise in the hotel. The breakfast offered at the corner cafe seemed more like a bad joke. The shower cabin is extremely narrow, and using it requires a lot of skill. As positive aspects, I would mention the kindness of the staff, the generous space of the room, the small equipped kitchen and the location

Booked the penthouse suite for my clients bridal party. I'm extremely disappointed and disgusted by this hotel. The ATIC and star ratings -should be revisiting this hotel and updating their star rating immediately. The hotel is run down, filthy, and has major credit card security breaches. The staff are un-trained, and not even a phone in the room for Emergencies is unacceptable!

If you wish to stay in this penthouse I recommend you bring your own toilet paper as only 1 supplied and when you call reception to advise they forget to deliver and close the front desk.

Also, don't forget to bring a few cans of disinfectant as you will definitely need it.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are generous in size: we have a bedroom, sitting/dining room, galley kitchen, and bathroom; plenty of room for the two of us. The kitchen is nice, a pot, a pan, dishes and cutlery for two, a two-burner gas stove, a small refrigerator, decent counter space and some cabinet space. Housekeeping has been fantastic. The lication is close to Darling Harbour, Sydney Town Hall/QVB, Chinatown, and more. Nicely, the area is relatively quiet at night. The hot water supply is generous, I never noticed a time when there wasn't hot water (note: sometimes, you could notice when other rooms ran water because the temperature could fluctuate, but never got cold). The Nespresso machines in the lobby are a nice touch!

My two drawbacks:
1) the cooking requirements of a noisy range hood and open window are a bit much. I understand the reasoning, but find it a bit much.
2) the fixtures could do with some refurbishing. The bed is comfortable. The sofa not so much and it needs a good steam cleaning. Some of the fixtures are not in the best shape (bathroom cabinets in particular). The shower enclosure needs some grab bars; I'm an older, larger American and the shower enclosure is small and can be slippery.

Overall, YEHS Sydney Harbour Suites is a good value and the drawbacks are almost minor. I suppose that TikTok influencers would find them major; but for your average traveller this hotel is quite a nice set-up and good value (I booked over 6 months in advance and got an excellent rate).

We stayed at YEHS Hotel Sydney Harbour Suites which is an old hotel purchased by YEHS group.
We ordered our room from New Zealand about two weeks before our stay and on the day of our arrival arrived in Sydney from Auckland. In the confirmation letter we were not warned about fire alarms.
There was a notice that excess steam from the shower could trigger the fire alarm and call the fire brigade. For this there would be a charge of A$1600. So $1600 for taking a vigorous shower! Of course the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work in our room. Quite a few of the appliances in the room did not work.
On 14/2/22 my wife burnt the toast which resulted in the fire alarm sounding and our being charged $1600. We were not permitted to check out without payment of this amount.
In short, the charge for the fire alarm was not mentioned in the advertising material for the hotel or the confirmation email. The hotel is an old hotel with many defects in the equipment and appliances. The charge of $1600 is completely unreasonable because it is much more likely in view of the age of the hotel and the malfunctioning appliances. The manager said that the fire brigade comes 3-4 times per month.

Contrary to many reviewers here we thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. Fully self contained with cooker, washing machine and dryer provided. Situated right by Darling Harbour, close to Town Hall Metro and in easy walking distance to the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Circular Quay the location could hardly be bettered.

I suppose it depends what you are looking for in a hotel. We wanted somewhere clean and comfortable to stay in a central location at a reasonable cost and this hotel was all of that.

We would. It hesitate to stay there if we should visit again.
