I stayed here with a school group, this place is in a great location near the harbour bridge and the city life if thats what your looking for. The room i had was comfortable, clean and spacious but was missing a tv which would have been good when relaxing after a big day.

Stayed at the Rocks for 5 nights, and it was everything i had hoped for. Its cheap as a backpacker and you meet so many nice people and the staff is so friendly and they make events all the time, so even though I travelled alone I didn't feel bored or alone at any point. Parties and food events, they...

I booked this hotel as it seemed a good price for the location. It was clean and the bathroom was very nice. I booked a private double room with private bathroom so the price was obviously much higher than using a dorm room (approx £85/night). The facilities seemed good. We attended the BBQ on the rooftop one night but as...

I stayed in the Sydney Harbour YHA with my parents, who are in their early 60s. It was there first stay in a hostel and they were all surprised! The YHA is perfectly located in The Rocks, Sydney's oldest district. From the rooftop terrace you have an undisturbed view on the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. All city sights are...

We were looking for a place to stay in Central Sydney that was close to main attractions that were accessible by walking. This was perfect even on a rainy weekend. Stayed in a double room which had a view of harbour. Room was modern and clean.

Stayed here one night on the weekend. Friendly staff, 24 hours reception and very clean throughout. They have taken great care on the environment and feel of the place. This place is so central with easy walking through the Rocks, to Circular Quay and into the city. Would easily stay again

Great place. Absolutely would stay there again. Everyone was nice and polite. I must say, sitting on top of the balcony and having a drink while the sun was out and everyone behaving in an enthused yet respectful manner ranks up there with the best of the backpacking experiences I have had.

This is the best hostel I stayed in for all of my backpacking. The rooms are clean and spacious, and even have lots of plug sockets for each person staying in the room. The kitchen is also huge and has lots of equipment to use. The hostel also has an amazing rooftop with superb views, and a TV room with...

Stayed here in a private room with ensuite for six. 3rd floor beside the roof top terrace. Absolutely stunning views. Beds comfortable and room spotless. Location is fantastic too. It's built on the dig site and there's so much to see within the building itself. Definitely worth booking here.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
