I have been here 14/15 times and that in itself is testament to its quality. Can't believe you will find a better place for the gay traveller to stay in Sydney. Wifi is superb. Hosts are knowledgeable and super accommodating and have become good friends. Breakfast is a quasi family affair and something to look forward to every day. Location... More

I have been to Sydney 9/10 times and always stay at this guest house. It is very homely and the hosts, Tom and Phillip, are superb and I am pleased to call the friends. The guest house is very central and you can be at Darling Harbour in a 15/20 minutes walk. Buses to circular quay are a five minute... More

I stayed with Tom and Phil for 5 nights. A great location, walk into the city or Oxford St, buses around the corner, train 10min walk - it has it all. The B n B has 6 rooms, 2 bathrooms to share, everyone meets for breakfast and shares their experiences. Was always lively conversation, your hosts can answer any question... More

Have been staying with Tom and Phillip on many occasions. Their establishment is unpretentious, and you feel their personalities everywhere. They are quite knowlegeable about everything going on in Sydney, whether that be on art, theatre, musicals, or neighborhoods. The rooms are clean and there are several bathrooms. Breakfast consists of two courses (included in the tariff), and is the... More

I stayed the first time in Australia in Sep/Okt 2013 for my own. In my plannings i do not want to stay in a large but expensive Hotel more in a small B&B to get in contact with the locals faster. After reading the former reviews of travelers, who stayed in Governors of Fitzroy, I decided to stay here too.... More

The Governors' owners could not possibly be better informed about current theatre events in Sydney, and are more than happy to share their valuable insights. Don't be too put off by the run-down facade of this grand old Victorian terrace (come on mates, all it needs is a scraper and some fresh paint!) - the interior is well cared for,... More

Me and my partner's first visit to Sydney was certainly enhanced by our 3 night stay at Govenor's on Fitzroy. Many things to like here starting with the delightful hosts, Tom and Phillip. They are delightful, intelligent and fun gentlemen who obviously know how to run a successful B and B (having done so since the late 80's ). They... More

It was a pleasure to have you stay with us, some people don't mind the top floor, we will remember for next time to put you on the 1st floor. Let us know when you are visiting Sydney again! cheers, Tom & Phillip More

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighbourhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighbourhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colourful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighbourhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
