Easy to locate and park, hotel excellent accommodation, clean rooms in a pleasant setting overlooking inner garden area. Would recommend this hotel for a visit to Canberra. it is situated in a fairly central position for access to the centre of the city, shops and park in walking distance.

This hotel has plenty of charm and character. We stayed 4 nights with our teenage son and had a loft apartment which was very comfortable. We didn't have a car with us as we flew but it is in a great position. It is an easy walk to the war memorial and to the Civic Centre for shopping, restaurants and...

I had a 3 night stay in this hotel. It was in a wonderful position, right in the centre of the city. It was only a short walk to the War Memorial and also the civic centre. They also had free parking. The hotel was very reasonably priced and the surroundings were rather lovely, especially the courtyard, although I felt...

Dear Alexandra P, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It's great to hear you found our courtyard pleasing and overall enjoyed your time at our hotel. Our superior rooms do have king split beds however they have a heavy topper over the mattresses so it shouldn't feel any different to a normal king bed. I will...

This hotel is in a great position for the War Memorial, you can walk easily and to the city centre as well. We were able to leave the car for the 3 days we stayed at no cost and walk. The rooms are average ours had a bad smell from the bathroom but otherwise clean and comfortable. The Staff were...

We loved our four day stay in a loft room at Mercure Canberra. As Advantage Plus members we chose to eat in for most meals as both the dining room and bar/bistro had good food choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A short 1km walk to the War Memorial or the Canberra Centre plus good driving access to other Canberra...

I have previously stayed at this wonderful Hotel on a number of occasions but this visit had left me slightly disappointed. We stayed in a Superior Room advertised as King size bed which was the annoying configuration of two singles pushed together. I also thought the restaurant Menu was very ordinary compared to what it was 18 months ago. As...

One night in this establishment a few weeks ago to attend a group reunion did not leave me with very good memories. Dear Dudley Palmer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to...

The Mercure in Canberra is definitely one of the better Mercure properties out there. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, very organised, and knowledgeable. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Mercure Canberra, a part of Canberra's history Originally known as the Hotel Ainslie, Mercure Canberra was built to provide accommodation for public servants relocating to Canberra to support the transfer of the Commonwealth Parliament. It is one of eight remaining government built hotels or hostels from Canberra's first stage of development in the 1920s and is listed in the Register of the National Estate. Mercure Canberra is historically significant for its important role in the development of North Canberra and the forging of its community identity. While maintaining many original features, the hotel embraces the need for 21st century comforts to ensure you feel welcome and have an enjoyable stay. Our 129 guest rooms are well appointed and have been decorated in keeping with the heritage style of the building. Our Standard rooms are located in the Heritage wing, with the layout and style of room not changing from the hotels' original days. For those looking for a more modern layout, you may wish to select one of our Superior or Deluxe Loft rooms in the newer part of the building. Our guests have the option to dine at our onsite Courtyard Restaurant serving modern Australian cuisine in the evening and a choice of Continental or Buffet breakfast in the morning. Those looking for a more casual dining experience can enjoy Bistro style meals from our Olims Bar & Bistro, a favourite spot for hotel guests and locals to mingle, serving Craft Beers & Cider from our very own Lovedale Brewery Our location is ideal. 600m from the Australian War Memorial commemorating those who serve our country, both past and present. Most of Canberra's National Attractions are within 10 minutes' drive from the hotel and the CBD is and easy 10 minute walk away and offers a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as shops and a Dendy Movie Cinema. Our team at Mercure Canberra look forward to making you feel welcome when you plan your next stay in beautiful Canberra, Australia ... more   less
