I can say this was not the best meal I have eaten here. A big bug bear of mine is locals standing round the bar area making difficult for people to see what drinks are served and talking over you find it very rude and only for they talking to get louder and louder was pleased to leave. Meals seemed...

Perfect Pub with welcoming staff We cannot fault this pub. We were welcomed by the young lady behind the bar and shown to our room. Very nice room and bathroom with good views over the fields. Lovely breakfasts In the evening we ate in the bar where there was a good choice on offer. Service was great and the food...

Arrived about 5.30pm to have a few drinks and a meal. Got a drink from the bar and seated ourselves to browse the menu. Both ordered burgers. They arrived in a bun the size of the plate. The burger was tough and rubbery most likely from the freezer very disappointing. The French fries were cold which I sent back. Had...

Went here for Sunday lunch and couldn't fault the staff or the food. All the staff were very friendly and polite but never hurried or pushed us. Food was cooked perfectly with large portions. 2 of us had desserts and, although the apple pie wasn't the absolute best we've had, the sticky toffee pudding definitely was and a second portion...

Well. I can't say how gutted I am to write this as this is one of our favourite places to eat and we travel from North tyneside to this place at least a few times a year with the family... Not anymore We got there about 2.47 to be told they stopped serving food 15 minutes ago. It became very...

Visited the pub as part of a day's walk from Riding Mill and we were not disappointed the beer was perfect. The soup was good too. The atmosphere in the pub for a weekday was also good with many people in the pub even though it is in a remote area.

Visited on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet so we sat in the bar area instead of restaurant for our meal so we would have some atmosphere. It did fill up by the time we were leaving though (9pm). The starters and main courses were faultless! Chips delicious and both sauces on our mains were just lush! I...

Broke a long drive with an overnight stay here. Friendly and welcoming pub with low beams and real fires, a good selection of real ales and freshly cooked evening meals from a varied menu. Nice touches in the room - bottled water, biscuits, fresh milk. Room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Very good value.
