We have been here before and enjoyed it very much, hence our return. Unfortunately our experiences were not so good this time. The changing rooms are completely inadequate for the amount of people using them. The floors everywhere were swimming in water, the basket for towels overflowing, nowhere to hang your towels in the showers and general shabbiness everywhere. There...

On the whole there wasn't a lot to complain about but there wasn't anything that made me think wow. I had to wait 30 minutes to check in because of the queue. The room was a good size and had everything you would expect. Perhaps a choice of tea would be an improvement. The bar prices are expensive. They are...

I have used this hotel many times over the years. The fact that I keep coming back speaks volumes. We don't do spas so that is of little interest to us. The hotel is nicely remote and does what all good hotels should do for visitors. It is always clean and tidy. Check in simple and straightforward. Neville is great...

Myself and my bridesmaids stayed here for a spa weekend and it was bliss. The treatments at the spa were lovely and relaxing and we spent time by the pool, with a nice bottle of prosecco. It got busier as the day goes on, but this did not bother us, as the next morning it was really quiet again and...

Went here for a 2 night stay with my partner and the hotel it's self is lovely set in its own grounds but some rooms and some of the areas could do with being refurbished as they are very dated and furniture was heavily worn in the room we had. The staff were all helpful and very friendly and the...

I booked a stay here with my partner for 1 night stay and use of spa facilities with a massage. On arrival we were given a warm welcome but very little information on our room, spa and our meals which were included so we were left a bit in the dark. We had to ask at reception 4 times before...

I arranged a weekend away with my girlfriend and included an evening meal, lunch, breakfast and spa package. Everything from start to finish was fantastic. The service from all of the staff was superb and noticeable how everyone acknowledges you and says Hello or Good morning. A great touch! The spa was fantastic and very relaxing. Couple of minor points........

Having had numerous spa breaks in the Q chain, I feel they are comforming to quantity rather than quality. A wonderful welcome from Nevielle put the early start and long drive into the back ground Rooms were ready and well worth the stay. However on arrival at the spa the complimentary drink is no longer on offer...the pool area was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Not 100, not 500 but 1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. That the interiors are almost as dramatic as the exterior says it all. This is very old world grandeur with a modern twist. Bask in the warmth of the reception you receive on arrival, dine at Hadrian's Brasserie, or at the Duke's Grill. Indulge with a Vichy water spa treatment or just flop in the fantastic indoor pool. The great outdoors doesn’t get much greater. After a bracing country walk in the wilds, or round on our championship golf course, retire to the Claret Jug and the 19th Bar for a stiff brandy. Surely you deserve it ? ... more   less
