We (my husband and I) spent one night in this guesthouse during our island hoping this September. We chose for this place only last minute, but it was really really great experience I recommend to everybody visiting Crete. The guesthouse is in the middle of beautiful scenery, mountains, place is incredibly quiet and the only thing you can see around are mountains, goats and the sea in distance. We took dinner in the guesthouse, everything was really fresh and tasty, homemade cheese, great mussaka and that evening belongs to the most cosy and memorable we had in Greece. Yannis and Irini are great, hospitable, we spent our evening with them, home grown apples and fresh almonds, fresh yoghurt with candied fruit and of course...genuine raki. :D The evening was full of chatting and listening to music and singing by Yannis and his lute. If you want to see something completely different than tourist Crete, I highly highly recommend this place. :) Thanks a lot. Ou...and the breakfast had the most amazing view ever. :D

If a change of scenery from a busy, stressful life is what you seek to find, Arodamos Guesthouse is definitely that! Beautiful views, lots of engaging activities, and delicious food all in one place. Activities such as: mountain hikes, archery and an insight into their farming lifestyle are all included in the experience helping you to return to nature during your stay. The family are both extremely friendly and helpful and the food was heavenly. We are a family with a 15 year old and 3 year old and not once were we bored. Would most definitely recommend and look forward to returning soon.

Imagine...: You drive up the mountain, (first via a winding road and the last 2km on a comfortable dust/stone track). You see the fields in the valley shrink and shrink into a wonderful jigsaw puzzle of shades of green and yellow all the way to the coast... you take the last turn and arrive at Arodamos, garden of Eden... Warm welcome by the owners. Absolutely stunning views of the mountains. No traffic noise. Absolute peace. Nice swimming pool. Terras overlooking the garden, the trees, the mountains, ... We stayed in a house with kitchenette, living room and separate bedroom (split level) with a lot of space. In the valley, it was really very hot but here in the mountains, temperatures are super comfortable. Possibility to go hiking... Or to stay in a lazy deck chair with a good book. ( hint: bring tons of books or an e-reader and stay here for a week or longer...) Other activities available. Breakfast is perfect. Lunch an dinner available on request ( make sure to ask them in the morning) and everything is home cooked and fresh. Delicious and copious. The owners Irini and Iannis make you feel at home whilst totally respecting your privacy and rest. Ευχαριστώ πολύ !

Visiting Aradamos Guesthouse was a highlight of our trip to Crete. We absolutely adored our time here. It truly is a special experience to stay here. The hosts are absolutely wonderful people and the food was the best I had on our entire trip. I cannot say enough of how wonderful it was here. The food comes primarily from the farm and if you are looking for an eco-friendly and delicious cuisine, you will not be disappointed. The produce and meats are all from the farm. The bread is baked fresh daily. The eggs come from the kitchen coop. There is even a Mountain Tea herbal infusion, that is from locally grown herbs. It really is like staying with family.

We stayed 3 nights at Arodamos, which were very pleasent. The rooms are very large, well equipped, very clean, nicely decorated in a traditional style. and generally very comfortable. The owners, Irini and Yannis, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, with both normal things such as eggs and orange juice, Cretan dishes such as tomato balls and dakos, and of course cheese and olives. We ate two dinners, which were also very good with various Cretan dishes. Arodamos is just 10km from Krousonas, but it was a 30 minute drive, with amazing views and somewhat scary. So it's best to bring groceries when you arrive.

I should really keep this place a secret but it's so beautiful I have to tell everybody! Yiannis and Irini were so welcoming and made us feel part of the family. The accommodation is reached by narrow, winding lanes with the final approach on dirt track but actually it isn't really that far from civilisation and well worth the journey. Irini is an incredible cook and provided us with some lovely meals, including her homemade bread in which she uses home grown wheat - this was beautiful. The sleeping accommodation is in individual houses which are very comfortable, having self catering equipment if you need it. We found our stay very relaxing and will definitely return.

What an experience! We were originally going to stay only one night but decided that as we were arriving in the evening we should stay two. As it turned out a great decision. Our arrival was somewhat problematic as our ferry from Naxos arrived 2 ½ hours late. Not only did this mean arriving at Arodamos much later but driving into the mountains in the dark rather than during daylight. This is relevant as Arodamos is about 8 km beyond Krousonas, the last 1 ½ km being along a gravel road. You really want plan to drive the houses in the light. Although we did not arrive until after 11:00 pm both Irini and Giannis were waiting for us, greeting us with drink, cheese and fruit – most welcoming. Our traditional stone apartment was extremely large, with a kitchenette. High ceilings, beautiful wood finishings, a fireplace, a comfortable bed, lots of seating, a table, an outside barbeque and veranda all made this traditional house so comfortable. There was no wi-fi in the room but a good connection from the restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful with a number of items beyond the normal (which were of course all there – fresh orange juice, coffee, delicious mountain bread, honey, marmalade, tomatoes and olives) including smoked pork, eggs (one day delicious scrambled eggs with pumpkin) and rice pudding. Eating while admiring the view of the surrounding mountains, clouds rolling in and out, listening to the sounds of the sheep and other farm animals – perfection. Arriving so late we did not have a full meal but did notice musical instruments. We were exciting to hear Giannis would play his lute the following night. We spent the day relaxing, enjoying the views of the mountains and a short walk to a nearby church. Below the homes there is an area of farm animals (chickens, goats, sheep) – no doubt great for children. There is also a nice pool although it was too cool in early June to enjoy. Dinner was special – first for the food and second for the music. The room is attractively decorated with Cretan artefacts - wall hangings, musical instruments etc. We had appetizers of Greek salad and lamb livers, then a delicious lamb with artichokes, potatoes and herbs dish for me and stuffed pepper, tomato, zucchini and dolmades for my (vegetarian) wife – huge servings, and all for only 30 euro. Also staying and having dinner that night were two families from Cyprus. Soon after dinner Giannis started to play his lute with the Cypriots singing along to the folk songs and laughing to the stories being told. Although the song and stories were in Greek which we do not understand one of the younger Cypriots translated reasonably well for us, making us part of the evening. Lots and lots of laughter. Then out came a traditional mountain dish -lamb spleen. Now to a Canadian this is not a dish I would ever encounter. But I agreed to try it if one of the Cypriots ate it first – she did and I did. During the music we enjoyed cherries, watermelon and oranges in honey … and lots and lots of homemade raki, the common Greek after-dinner drink. The music and singing went on until after midnight. I’m going on about this evening because it was no doubt the best, most personal experience of our trip – huge servings of delicious food, great music, lots of stories and laughter – very personal. For those who like rural places this is excellent in every way. For those who enjoy a rural environment the quality of accommodation, the generous servings of delicious meals, and the hospitality of Irini and Giannis make Arodamos an excellent choice and value. And the drive, that we finally experienced as we left and descended back to Krousonas the next day is spectacularly scenic in daylight.

We stayed at Arodamos guesthouse only for 1 night, but it was really fantastic. The family was very nice and helpful. The lady cooked very good breakfast, lunch and dinner for us. Frankly speaking that was the best food we ate during our stay in Crete. Try stuffed cuccini flowers and cuccini chops-they are really awesome! The nature is beautiful, it's a good place to relax and for those who like hiking. There are also animals on the farm- so it could be interesting for children. The place is a bit difficult to find, ask for the indicators beforehand , we used navigator that made us go to the damaged hunters' road.

Just getting to Arodamos is breathtaking - it's in the mountains outside Krousonas. You can see the ocean as you climb higher, but don't take your eyes off the road because herds of goats and sheep regularly graze around the roads. I think the concept around Arodamos is to give you a real taste of traditional Cretan mountain life. The villas themselves are beautifully built and spacious inside. The light and electricity is solar and wind-powered. I highly recommend the breakfast. Just about everything served is made at Arodamos - right down to the wheat used in the bread. They provided us with everything we need to make our own Greek coffee in the kitchenette in our villa every day. Having the pool right at our doorstep was nice on hot days. The couple that run this place are generous people and proud Cretans. One evening they treated us to their own raki and a serenade complete with a lauoto. They also let us help them thresh wheat using a donkey. My son enjoyed trying out the loom and my wife did a bit of pottery. This place is so tranquil and such a nice break from the crowds on the beaches, but it's also close enough to beaches on both the north and south coast that you can spend your day at the beach. Arodamos is few degrees cooler, which is nice after spending your day in the sun. On a clear night, the sky is heavy with stars and all you can hear is the faint bleats and bells of goats and sheep.

We have just left Arodamos and we really would like to say how great our stay was. Arodamos guesthouse is just amazing, our house was very Nice and clean, the atmosphere SO peaceful. The food made by our host was So delicious, thanks to her, we discovered Many different greek meals, made with vegetables and fruit from their garden!! We enjoyed the swimming pool in this very quiet environment. It was really the change we needed, far from the touristic places without any soul or personal approach. We left Arodamos with a lot of emotion and we will definitely come back in the soon future. 4 days were too short! We wish all the best to Arodamos. Many thanks for all!
