We stayed in a Hornbill property with a waterfall view from our room and a nice bathtub that also has a waterfall view. Heaven it was. This plantation stay is one of the best with the great locality, nature around you and perfect infrastructure, a waterfall view just in front our your room and you wake up surrounded by teat plantation on one side and the mountain on the other side.

The perfect place we choose during covid as this is a secluded place away from the town. The manager Mr.Sam and his family also keeps in mind the safety precautions from covid right from giving you the kasayam along with breakfast.

Being remotely located from the Conoor town, it is very difficult for them to source the basic needs but they manage to satisfy us at the most with the pleasing hospitality and courteous service.
Special mention to the Manager Mr. Sam and his wife. They really took personal care of us and the manager made sure all my requirements are fulfilled and even I would really never forget their kind hosting experience. The food they serve you is so homely and tasty and the care they take to serve you every meal is so so great that you feel like you are at home. Moment to cherish forever.

Though they do not offer room service for food which is difficult because of the property location, but the staff is always available for any kind of service like cleaning, providing basic essentials and also they come along with you after every meal to make sure you reach the property safe from the dinning which would be some 500 meters.

The Eco-friendly construction and the way they maintain it is really awesome and a big hats off to the property owner and the management.

In our heads, Oland Plantation
Stay has been around for years. Eventually, 2021 offered us an opportunity to
visit this property post lock down as a stay cation. We started from Chennai and reached Metupallayam by train and reached the estate through a private cab from the station. We arranged this cab through the contact
details shared by Mr. Sam, the host. This stay is only an hour away from Coonnor and this was my best staycation so far. We had breakfast on the
way so we went to our rooms with some help from Sam's team to bring our luggage once we reached the hotel. We had breakfast on the way so we directly went to our rooms with some help from Sam's team to bring our luggage once we reached the property. For us, we had booked the hornbill house where we had two rooms, one being the waterfall room and the jackfruit room. Both rooms were just extraordinary. Although the waterfall room has the best view of the waterfall through a glass window, the first floor jackfruit room has a private balcony with a sit out and a spectacular panoramic view of the valley. The Biomass water heater, eco brick construction and their solar lighting are one of the most significant items about the property that made us fall in love allover again. Further more, you can find a RO purifier for drinking water built, no worries and we had all our meal from the property restaurant for two days, which was just mouthwatering with large spread of varieties. They tasted like home-cooked food. Mr. Sam's host, his wife, the care-taking men and the chef are highly courteous and friendly.

PS: The tap water was lil muddy due to heavy rain when we had visited the property. When you have such a fun stay in the woods, there are things that can be overlooked.

We are always looking for a tranquil place to hideout, take a nature walk, capture a few shots and enjoy a cup of tea overlooking he mountains - Oland- Perfect!

We stayed at the Jackfruit room overlooking the water falls and tea estate and enjoyed the quietude of the place immensely far from other guests. We rather like the isolation so...
All house has the spectacular valley views.

We were referred to this place by Mahima and we thank her a lot for our wonderful experience.

Enjoy the home cooked food provided by the team The walks are sure to leave you famished and ready to appreciate the simple and delicious food served at the right times.

Manager Sam and his staffs where the best in hospitality and cooking delicious foods, utilising maximum ingredients from their own farm. Tea made from freshly plucked leaves was a masterpiece.

They had Hot water, a clean bathroom and tidy bed. The drive is worth it. The roads were getting laid when we were there.

Arise early to see the clouds in the valleys and listen to the call of the mysterious Malabar Whistler! Spend the evenings watching the sun set behind the Nilgiris and the beautiful cloud formations in hues of red and blue. Its a place to unwind - so go ahead and do it!

We are waiting for our Next trip soon! ♥️

As a keen naturalist, having no prior knowledge of this particular location, I came here with very little expectations of my experience here - except that it is somewhere in the Nilgiris and away from the mayhem of popular hill station towns (always an upside with folks of my ilk). So when I drove into through the well wooded plantations, filled with bird sound, that led upto the estate bungalow, and was greeted by Sam's insights into the wildlife here (with species like Leopard Cat, Brown Palm Civet and Rusty Spotted Cat a possibility, as per his records from ehre), and settling into my first floor estate room, with a view of the canopy overlooking a trio of Great Pied Hornbill feeding on fruiting Maesopsis (which turned out to be a very regular feature during my 3 night sojourn!), I was a bit more than pleasantly surprised with what was potentially on offer! As it turned out, while there were no rarities among the mammals I came across during my brief stay, there was excellent birdlife, including a healthy representation of migrant songbirds (Indian Blue Robin, various warblers, Indian Pitta, Asian Brown Flycatcher, Blue-capped Rock Thrush among them), as well as much of the local specialities of the Western Ghats. There were also a plethora of amphibians (mostly heard), thriving into the extended monsoon this year, and some colourful forest lizards (Green Calotes and Nilgiri Forest Lizard) that came out to bask on a rare sunny morning.

Sam, his wife and their two charming children, the chef and all the staff were excellent hosts as well and the warm hospitality and the suitably rustic but comfortable accommodation added to the enjoyable experience overall. A special mention has to be made about the delicious food here, where every meal was freshly prepared and flavourful!

Thank you and look forward to the next visit!
Ravi

The best ever place to relax your mind, far away from urban habitats, silent place. Best ever for family, couples, trekkers and nature lovers. Manager Sam and his staffs where the best in hospitality and cooking delicious foods, utilising maximum ingredients from their own farm. Tea made from freshly plucked leaves was a masterpiece. Our stay ended by planting a sapling. No words.. each and every thing where the best.. will surely visit again.

It is no exxageration or hyperble when I say that pictures and words cannot do justice to this hidden gem of a place nestled in the majestic Nilgiris. I went there on a solo vacation to for 3 nights and 4 days, I wish I had booked more days. The rooms are spartan and completely powered by eco-friendly means such as biomass water heaters and solar lights that are fully functional. Each room has stunning views of clouds floating beneath you and blue skies. All you can hear is birds and nature. The best part about the resort is the property manager Sam and his wife Shiny and their tight crew. Their hospitality was incomparable. The food was delicious and freshly cooked using fresh produce, a lot of which is grown organically on the estate. A sample afternoon fare included a sumptuous array of dishes such as soup, salad, rice, roti, 2 vegetable dishes, rasam, deliciously fluffy unpolished rice and non vegetarians had the option of the best of south Indian chicken curries.

I would visit O'land again in a heartbeat and truly reccomend it to anyone who would like to just be amidst nature.

We really had a wonderful time in Oland. The road to Oland is really good. We had good time staying in the Jack fruit room. The food served there is good. There is no Television at the room, so you need to plan for urself for Indoor activities. There is lot of birds and the morning walk will be too good around the property. The Jack fruit room is around 750mts from restaurant and so elders should avoid booking it. To spend time amidst nature, this is the best place.

1. Rooms: The rooms were well sanitized with mind blowing views of the valley and the waterfall. The old school aesthetics of the rooms only added to the charm of the location.
2. Food: The organic food was palatable with great taste and the variety of dishes served was also commendable.
3. Hospitality: The team at Oland were very welcoming and all our needs were attended dutifully.
4. Birdwatching and other animals: We spotted a large number of bird species including the big and beautiful hornbills and eagles, emerald dove and several parakeets to name a few.

I am not the kind who usually will write a negative review but this place certainly makes it so based on the experience we had. We were 3 families who saw good reviews and the pictures hence decided to go for it. First of all- the access to this place is not easy to say the least. We had trouble reaching it, one family went in another direction totally. The last part of the access is pretty bad, road is almost non existent. When we reached there, found none to even welcome or guide us. We had to almost search and seek out someone to show us the rooms. The manager was a little helpful as we could not get any signal and reaching our last car which had got lost. The check posts before the place are of no help at all so be sure you know your way well to avoid getting lost. In the night, we had one Bison come and sit on the access path which is from some of the rooms to the main building where we had other rooms and none was bothered to come to our help. We called the manger multiple times and all we got was blunt answers that "you can walk across", nothing will happen. We asked for food to come to our rooms as we could not walk across and that too was not welcomed, some of us went across and got some food. The power went off and refused to come back, no help there too. Its strange as to how this could happen only to us, as i see many good reviews but i guess things have to go a little wrong for someone to really know how good support staff is. They were pathetic except the kitchen guys who came with us carrying food. Overall- one of the worst experience purely based on how interested the manager was to help us out.

We went there once the lockdown had eased, my family and I wanted to head to the mountains. We stumbled upon Oland while doing some research for a place that didn't have too many rooms to avoid a big crowd and a place which could provide us a great experience. It was all of that and more as the manager and the family took great care of us with home-cooked meals and tea/coffee from the plantation.

The flora and fauna is excellent. So it's great if you want to go for walks or short hikes. And the amount of birds!!

Don't think twice, just go.
