An immaculate guesthouse in a great location for north lakes, 5 or 10 mims walk to Derwent Water. Very good quality food prepared by hired chef - guests were asked in advance about any allergies or dislikes. Dinner was a set menu with four courses - we hadn't realised there would be no choice but the food wasn't too fussy:... More

We needed a reward for a stressful week and a birthday celebration so were looking for somewhere to relax and a base for a good walk. The reviews were encouraging and we were not disappointed. The hotel is in a beautiful location, just outside Keswick, with a mountain view and surrounded by pasturelands full of grazing sheep. So peaceful and... More

We don't know where to start. Every aspect of Swinside is fantastic! We were greeted with a very warm welcome when we arrived, almost as if we were old friends. The entire property is beautifully clean, the sitting rooms are clean, comfortable and welcoming. It's the ideal place to sit with a drink in hand and look at the stunning... More

What a pleasant surprise when we arrived, not only is it in a superb location away from the madding crowds, but the hospitality and the hotel accommodation were great. We were greeted with a smile and looked after tremendously well, the public rooms were all tasteful and cosy, the food superb, al in all a nice genteel experience. We stayed... More

We visited on the recommendation of the Good Hotel Guide and enjoyed this small hotel close to the Hawes End jetty, on the West bank of Derwent Water. Our room, Lilac, was large and comfortable - whilst not ultra luxurious, it had a super-king sized bed, and two comfortable chairs that were positioned to afford a lovely view out through... More

We stayed here based on previous reviews and a gut instinct and we were not disappointed. Despite arriving late, the chef waited on for us to prepare a four course meal fit for any top resstraunt, this quality of dining then ran all through the weekend. Mike and Cath made us feel most welcome throughout our stay and provided us... More

Came to relax, walk, chat and eat. Complete success! Food out of this world. Rooms large and comfortable. Warm. No fire unfortunately but water and rooms piping hot. Wine list a bit pricy for us! Lots of lovely walks straight out the door. Launch trips on derwent water good fun. Mike and Kath very friendly.

This is a small family run hotel in a lovely tranquil setting. The owners, Mike and Kath, made us feel very welcome. Our room, Beech, had a lovely outlook. What a lovely lodge in the middle of nowhere next to a huge estate with oodles of pheasants and birds happily wandering around! The room was lovely with a huge comfortable bed!
