Very friendly staff and excellent service. The accommodation isn't the Ritz but it is perfectly set to give you the homely cottage feel, who wants polished stainless steel and glass when visiting the lakes. Free WiFi, just minutes off motorway without the noise and excellent breakfast.

Perfect location for exploring the Lakes or breaking a journey to Scotland, this family run B&B offers excellent breakfasts, dinners and plenty of local knowledge of the area. Rooms are charming and having been back time and again over 10 years I would recommend all rooms.

I have stayed at the Old School three times now and I would definitely go back yet again. It is the friendliest place with the loveliest staff who will go out of their way to make your stay more comfortable. The rooms I've stayed in have always been clean with plenty of space, they all felt really homey - which...

Stayed here for a one night stopover during an End to end cycle ride. The owner were friendly, but the accommodation was fairly basic. Tea and coffee in room, but no extras such as biscuits or hairdryer. No TV in room, but guest lounge available. Single room really tiny.

We stopped here as one of our places on the coast to coast route. A quirky and homely abode where Steve and Joanne made us very welcome. The room was fairly small but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with much choice. Our friend's dog (who was travelling with us) was also made to feel very welcome. We were...

This is inexpensive and fairly basic accommodation. It's clean and very welcoming. We had a small double bedroom with a really comfortable bed and a good shower with plenty of hot water. All the basics were supplied like tea and coffee etc. Breakfast was absolutely fine. The owners were warm and friendly and knowledgeable about where to eat nearby. There's...

Creaky floor boards, Aunt Mauds old dressing table in the room but a realisation that wifi is more important than toilet paper ( there was plenty of loo roll lol). For walkers just the perfect place. Homly & comfy with a first rate brekfast. Good hot showers and a warm sitting room if u fancied. We were 2 in a...

One was requiring close accommodation for business (3 nights)....... without the long journey in between and traffic chaos..... The accommodation was chosen after reading a number of Tripadvisors reviews... Beautiful building on arrival with plenty of character both inside and out.......A lovely couple who make you feel welcomed throughout your length of stay. The secret is in the name 'The...

Great welcome and hosts are very approachable and helpful. Free wifi available. No TV in the room but there is a big TV and lots of comfy chairs and sofas in the guest lounge. Decor is rather tired and dated. Road noise from M6 can be heard but we had chosen to stay here because it was convenient for the...
