Detailed Reviews
My husband and I have just spent a week at the Griya. It was pure bliss. From the beautiful bedroom to the stunning views our whole experience was memorable. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the spa was delightful. We ended up having 2 massages and one emerald treatment each. All were thoroughly relaxing.
The food caters for all tastes and there's a mix of authentic indonesian, japanese, Italian and other western dishes. The breakfast menu was comprehensive and kept us going all day. They ply you with fresh water which is great and we ended our week feeling utterly relaxed and healthy.
Slight confusion over the by one cocktail, get one free during happy hour at the rooftop lounge, so don't be caught out (we ended up having 4 cocktails each, which had its plus side 😉).
The reception staff are incredibly helpful and were able to respond to requests quickly and efficiently.
It was great that the resort is environmentally conscious with no plastic to be seen and guests are encouraged to consider multi-use of towels etc.
Amed itself is very rural which we wanted - you get to experience authentic Balinese life in sight, sound and smell. The roosters start early! There are a few fantastic places to eat close by, but I recommend hiring a scooter to get around in true Balinese style. They're great fun.
All in all, the Griya had everything we were looking for and if you're after tranquil luxury, look no further than the Griya.

This place offers great value for money as the villas are beautiful, well kept and come with breath taking views of the ocean. The food at the restaurant was some of the best that we’ve had during our 2 months of traveling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. There was a small surcharge of 50k IDR for ordering room service which is different but overall not a big deal. The rooms have a fresh water dispenser with refillable glasses which is a nice touch instead of water bottles. There’s not much to walk to in the area but it’s a great place to relax and snorkel or scuba dive! Would definitely stay again and recommend this place if you are going to be staying in Amed.

The villa is huge, clean and pretty. It offers a stunning sunrise view facing the ocean. The pool is of perfect size and we both enjoyed our stay relaxing on the pool side and the pool.
Breakfast was abundant and of good quality. We also ordered floating breakfast one day in the morning at additional costs and enjoyed the breakfast inside our private pool which was a very memorable experience. It worths the money.
Staff are very friendly and attentive, particularly the ladies in the restaurant. Overall a very pleasant stay. Shower pressure is also good. The two ladies who provided the massages to us were extremely professional in terms of techniques.
The downside is that there are only two ladies working in the spa. It makes it hard to book treatment, particularly for any 3- hour treatment or treatment for two persons. Highly recommend advanced booking if you want to go there.
Besides, the shower and toilet are halfway extended to an open area with garden, where we found lots of mosquitos and small worms inside the stones on the floor. It is a bit scary. We would highly recommend the hotel to do some preventive measures to minimize the chance that insects would go inside the villa as we saw worms on the floor of the bathroom from time to time.
We also experienced power outage on one night but the staff attended to it immediately. If possible, we would also recommend to have a bit more lights inside the villa so that it is not that dark at night. Having said that, we would still recommend this hotel and would come back if we go to Amed again.

We stayed a week at the Griya Villas. We went diving quite a lot but also stayed around the villa some days.
They organized transport from and to the airport which worked very well (2hr drive).
The staff of the villas, restaurants and spa were all nice and friendly.
We enjoyed the villa which was a two bedroom (of which one was closed off as it was only two of us) with a big private pool, two double sun lounges a separate living room that you could fully open up. Not everything brand new but nothing broken or dirty.
The Villas are equipped with a bluetooth speaker which is nice but due to the different levels and the straw roofs it can also get noisy. However, the neighbors were all quite latest by 10pm.
We had breakfast in the restaurant and sometimes in the villa (at no surcharge) which was great. Breakfast was included and you can pick from two out of maybe 15-20 dishes which was more than enough.
We also often had lunch and/or dinner at the restaurants which was very good (esp. the tenderloin, locally spiced chicken and the beef rendang) and also offered healthy options (create your own salad bowl etc).
One of the reasons we had dinner there most nights was that the villas are quite remote and the road was dark, so we didn‘t want to walk there at night. We tried the restaurant opposite which was good but not as good as the villa one.
We also used the Gym a couple of times which is well equipped for the number of villas.
Spa is also nice but can be a bit noisy when kids are playing around the main pool.

We found this as the most luxurious place to stay in Amed which is far more rural and secluded than other parts of Bali that we stayed. For the price it is amazing - this would easily be double if in the city as it is a fabulous star resort with beautiful villas, private pools and brilliant service. The spa was incredible, we had 2 treatments which were wonderful, and again, so reasonably priced. The happy hour drinks in the rooftop lounge were great and the food in the restaurant was delicious. The health cafe was nice for lunch and they suited all our dietary requirements. The only teeny tiny criticism (and this is being very picky!) is the furniture in the living room was a bit outdated and the communication could be improved as we had booked an excursion and because of bad weather it was cancelled - which was fine and we understood - but they told us when we got to Reception all ready to go, a phone call in advance would have been appreciated. But as I said, this is me being very picky, I still highly recommend the Griya, they made our trip amazing and my husband's birthday very special.

We booked a one bedroom deluxe villa to celebrate my birthday. The villa had spectacular views of the bay and surrounding hills. On arriving to the room there was a birthday cake made of towels surrounded by rose petals on the bed. Such lovely presentation. There was also a small bouquet of flowers and a chocolate cake. We were very impressed with the effort that was made for my birthday.
The villa was split into two with a separate building for the bedroom and a separate building for the lounge. Both were very well furnished and presented but could do with some small upgrades. For instance there was no USB sockets in any of the rooms. Some of the window blinds could do with maintenance. We also pointed out some broken tiles on the steps into the pool. One large one in particular was completely dislodged and could be a trip hazard.
We had room service the first night and it came promptly and was well presented and very tasty.
The breakfast menu had both Asian and European options and again was very good. Excellent presentation and I liked the fact that my breakfast tea was served in a pot and was fairly strong. A rare treat in Bali. A couple of points for feedback. We would have liked to see some bread and pastries offered and also my orange juice came out of a bottle. I saw the chef with the bottle.
All the staff we had interaction with were very pleasant, welcoming and professional. Most also had a very good grasp of English.
My wife used the spa for both the complimentary treatment and a 90 minute massage. The massage was ok but lacked the finesse and skill expected of a higher level spa.
Overall we had a very pleasant and highly enjoyable stay. We would recommend it and would stay there again.

Nice resort with amazing views. Booked the one bedroom villa, and they prepared a surprise cake and petals decoration for a birthday celebration. The private pool was clean, and the room was good with all general amenities you can find.
The toilet was nice too, providing a rustic feel with the outdoor shower with a modern touch of the bathtub. The only downside is that since this is an outdoor bathroom, beware of harmless bugs and insects. They do provide mosquito repellent in rooms though.
Breakfast was amazing, and it starts from 7am to 1130am. It's not a buffet breakfast, but the selections were good enough (often find ourselves too full from breakfast). They also have free yoga sessions on Monday and Wednesdays which is suitable for beginners.
The staff were friendly and helped us with whatever requests we have. Overall a very good experience (though the bugs can get annoying at times).

The Griya is an exceptional place to stay. We had a 2 room villa and it was secluded, private, peaceful and extremely comfortable. The beds are big and comfy, the kitchen was reasonably well-equipped but we didn't use it for cooking. The pool and the view are outstanding. We appreciated the filtered water in the kitchen, the pool towels, the outdoor shower, the attentive friendly service. The breakfast choices are good and the food is excellent. We also ate in the restaurant twice and the food and service was wonderful. It's easy walking distance to other cafes and bars and also you can walk to the closest beach, Lipah, where there is good snorkelling. In my opinion the photos of this place do not do it justice.

From the first email with the owner/manager to the last goodbye we were treated like royalty! We were greeted on day one by Andy Wayan and a delicious refreshing drink before being driven to our villa which was STUNNING. A towel/flower arrangement was waiting in our room congratulating us on our wedding anniversary along with a cake in the fridge. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and they were all such gorgeous lovely people. During our stay we indulged in a private dinner by our pool for our anniversary, daily breakfast, drinks on the rooftop, quite a few dinners and a pamper session at the day spa. The staff organised a driver for us and the use of a scooter during our stay. The villa was flawless - plenty of room, private pool, jacuzzi, jaw dropping views, privacy, lush gardens that were so well maintained. The indoor/outdoor ensuite is just beautiful. The complex is in a great location with views to Lombok and Agung from the rooftop bar. It’s not too far from the heart of Amed but will require a scooter or driver. There’s so much positive information I want to share about this amazing place but I think the best I can say is, book it, book it and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. I’d also love to single everyone of your staff Mr Martonen for recognition however I didn’t catch all their names. Suffice to say, all of the staff we encountered during our stay from the 2nd-7th Feb 24 were absolute fantastic and should be rewarded. The lady who conducted our special dinner, the ladies at breakfast, the rooftop staff and Andy Wayan in particular. We have only been back home for two weeks but are already working on our plan to return.

This is a really beautiful hotel tucked away in a quaint part of Bali. All of the employees in the spa, restaurant, and the staff that serviced the room were so friendly and accommodating. We signed up for a private cooking class in our room that was so fun! We primarily stayed at the hotel for the entire week enjoying the view, the pool, and an ultimate week of relaxation. The only negative we have is check out was a little abrupt. It felt as if we went from welcomed guests to strangers the minute we left our room. Checkout aside we would still return as that brief negative experience did not overshadow our stay at all.

Ask the Griya for a free transfer and I am sure they will happily collect you and drop you back to the airport.
Only the showers are outdoors....which is so wonderful. The toilet and sinks are enclosed.
