My friends were visiting me in India for a bit and wanted a quick getaway away from the hustle and bustle of Delhi NCR. Honestly when they picked Solan, I wasn’t sure that the chosen place packs the punch we were looking for. I stand corrected Surya Villas was blissful a perfect blend of leisure and warm hospitality! One has travelled extensively and this is one unexplored gem with a beautiful sprawling property, gardens at various levels, a great view from the rooms, a nature trail, a billiards room, a spa where the skilled staff transcends one to cloud nine. However, personally for me more often than not luxe / opulence comes with a cold service and one then strives to find getaways with more soul “Surya Villas” is nothing if not about the genuine warm staff. Pankaj ensured one didn’t have to wait long for the luggage as he drove us to our rooms in a cart. Since we were friends travelling were sharing our rooms and they were humongous and very inviting (the welcome chocolates were scrumptious), there was no damp smell, something that is commonplace in hills the bed linen and towels were perfect and crisp. Bhajan took a bunch of us for a small trek, he came prepared for the same that is the essence of service we never had to ask / request for anything it was always pre-empted and served without guests seeking it.The multi-cuisine restaurant is manned by Pushpinder , Suraj , Harsh, Nikhil and Kapil ,is any foodie’s delight. The team is very attentive and enhances your experience with impeccable service. The Chef Gajendra, personally visits the guests and makes recommendations almost as if he were a mind reader, the preparations made were not only the most juiciest, delicious but also presented in a manner wherein all of us were experts of “Food photography” by the end of the trip. One was fortunate to meet the management and its eminent why the staff here is like none out there, they endorse the values just as the promoters / management and are truly valued here. Infact, the staff also put up a traditional Nati dance performance for the guests, thank you Amit , Sumitra and Santosh we thoroughly enjoyed the same.
This trip was just what the heart wanted to disconnect from the stress in our daily lives…but it touched my heart to meet all these people who work effortlessly as a team to deliver a distinguished service. Surya Villas has been an endearing experience indeed, would highly recommend a visit here.

One of the most memorable moments were created in suryavilas during our stay in the resort last week…the credit of course mainly goes to the team of staff that works round the clock diligently to extend their warmth and care to make each guest feel special and looked after….our case being the most amazing one where right from the newly appointed GM Varun to chef Gajendra to Charu who was an absolute star in making our special occasion the most special one to everyone at the front desk ,to the servers in the restaurant made our stay as comfortable and personalised…the entire team is very courteous and dedicated….the food was very well curated thanks to chef Gajendra who personally looks into the guests interests and whips up delicious meals as per their pallets….Varun took care of our minutest detail and made our stay so memorable…he’s a star and so is Charu who was ever so helpful in creating a magical world for us on our special day. They don’t stick to commitment. Booked 5 rooms 15 days in advance with commitment to provide all rooms together as we were 4 families with small kids who like to play together . But rooms that were offered were hardly together rather only 3 rooms which could be called in continuation. Wasted full 2 hours in convincing arguing with front desk staff for getting side by side rooms but to no avail. When they were not able to satisfy us with their replies we wanted to meet manager. Staff told us that manager will be available in few minutes but all this time he was standing on first floor above reception and watching and hearing us but was too shy or afraid to come downstairs to meet guests. Manager is elusive unresponsive unreachable.staff tried best but unable to handle rush. Staff count is too low for managing guests when you have rooms spread out all over resort. Calls made to reception housekeeping are not answered for min 40 minutes. Four rooms which were so called in continuation were approachable using poorly built stairs with minimal lighting and no railings. Flooring outside these rooms was worst Overall all stairs in resort were devoid of any railings. Stairs leading up to spa and billiards room from reception were of unequal size without any kind of railings. . Checkout is equally traumatic experience. Had to carry my own luggage to parking due to lack of staff. A single person was running between parking area and reception to get cars. This place is not fit for elderly and kids as they lack basic safeguards. Food was ok. Pool was clean

At the outset, please accept my heartfelt apologies for not living up to your expectations. Our aim is to provide rooms, to groups like yours, together, however, very rarely though, during high occupancy days - this does become a challenge with guests extending their stay and occupying the blocked rooms. Still, we should have lived up to our colleagues promise of giving all 5 rooms together. We do have a strict policy of answering our guest phones within 3 rings and we do have staff posted for the same however, I will reinstate trainings to ensure that there is no miss on this in the future. Being a hill-station, the staricase design inside the resort is in concurrence with the natural surrounding and hence there is no railing, infact the stones used in our staircase are absolutely natural from the hills hence providing a strong and safe grip to eliminate any chances of slipping or falling - we have earned positive reviews on our design and safety from almost every guest staying with us. Our resort is absolutely safe and fit for kids and elderly, we do cater to more than 90% family guests; I do sincerely regret the delay in your check-out and baggae service. This definitely is a one-off case and we are glad you highlighted this - trainings and staffing needs for rectifying the same have already been initiated. Hi, Want to write some reviews about my stay from 5th to 7th Nov 2021 at Suryavillas Solan, which are as under :-
1. House keeping was very poor. Please see attached picture. The washroom floor towel was not changed during our entire stay. Very poor hygiene in the washroom. 2. The cutlery including spoons in the room were dirty with sticky material probably used by the previous occupants. 3. The extra bed provided to us was not a bed but a mattress. On my repeated asking to provide a folding bed, the staff first told me that they provide only mattress , however when confronted that the mattress is a folding mattress of a folding bed the staff confessed that all the beds have gone outside for repair and that is why only mattress were being provided. Imagine a 5 star providing a floor mattress. Ridiculous. Please see picture to show how we were made to sleep in your hotel on floor mattress. Disgusting. Due to the cold night and cold floor I suffered from cold and my sleep got disturbed on both nights early morning around 4- 5 am. However even then the hotel charged 5400/- for the extra bed although the service was not provide and also caused so much of inconvenience. 4. Also find attached the picture showing the condition of the tray in which hot chocolate milk for the kids was served. So unhygienic like some dhaba service. The spoons for mixing the milk were also kept on the super dirty cloth.
Overall stay was below average .

Wonder what is so luxurious about this resort that it is named luxurious Vilas. The property is huge and surrounded by a lot of greenery, beautiful views but that’s where it all ends. It is a really runs down property, bathrooms are filthy, spiders and cockroaches in the room, dirty bed and bathroom linen and for all of that they charge you a bomb. Avoid this place and find a nice home stay or htdpc government run properties, those will at least be more hygienic than this place

I had booked for a 3 night stay with my family at this property. the description of the himlayan cottage was not adequate. Despite having paid the total amount in full, almost a month before the stay, we were given the worst rooms in the property. The view was really useless, in fact there was no view because being in the ground floor and the lowest floors, we could not even raise the curtains for lack of privacy. There was no place to keep you stuff. We had two "Cottages!!!" - basically independent rooms with a bathroom. There was no cupboard, no place to keep your luggage, very poorly designed rooms - at least that were where we stayed. The view was also not good, in fact we were seeing construction going on if we looked out!! We figured there were better rooms higher up but we were given the lowest so the view was really useless. The bathroom door glass door was broken and stuck with tape and had a broken handle!! Did not expect this at such a resort.
Going to the restaurant or pool was a challenge because you have to call for a drop to that place. Then after an endless wait, a rattling Omni would arrive. By then you are fighting with each other as to why you did not call for the car earlier. Sometimes they would arrive promptly also so if we call the car and we are still getting ready, car would have to wait so we would call only after we were ready. Coming back from the restaurant or elsewhere, you have to walk back a long distance.
The property was maintained pretty well and looked beautiful and welcoming, so the expectation is high. The staff is really good, they are polite and well behaved. But the room is a totally different story.
So unfortunately, due to the kind of rooms we got, we have a very disappointing stay in this resort! Definitely not going back there nor would recommend it to anyone.

The resort is beautiful build and the stay was very relaxed. Few things which you will take care then stay will be much happier and less costly. Bring your snacks along with you as every item is very expensive in resort and only one restaurant is in resort so you will feel bore having same food again n again. As the resort is located deep inside a hill so you have to drive back again for anything you need so buy all in advance. When you are negotiating the price from resort, do negotiate for dinner alongwith bfast as each buffet cost 1200 plus tax. Alacarte order of food will be expensive as none of the dish is less thn 500 rs, tea costed us 150 rs plus tax. Also pls ask them to include bonfire in package in advance as they charge for everything possible.
Also I went in long weekend and still the resort was 20% occupied only, likely coz it's expensive and seperated from all other places thus thr is a chance to upgrade your room always.
Staff was very Curtious and prompt service. Do bring some games alongwith you as get very bore sometimes as they don't have much activity. Only pool and tenis table.
Swimmimg pool and restaurant view is beautiful.

Absolutely gorgeous views as the property is located amidst mountains. It’s a huge property and they have shuttles for internal movements. We stayed in a superior deluxe room which was quite spacious, approach to the room could have been better though. All rooms have valley view, however some might not have a very clear one, you may check if given the option. Restaurant is the best attraction as it’s on the 4th floor and offers mesmerizing views. Alongside restaurant is the swimming pool which is nicely maintained. Food is good and buffets are available during breakfast and dinner. We availed their SPA services which were very relaxing and you may also check for some discounts there. We also got a complimentary cake for our anniversary celebration. Special thanks to Mr. K.D.Sharma for managing our stay so well.

We stayed in this resort from 19th August to 25th August in room number 501 . This is a beautiful property, the moment you enter this property you fall in love with it . We were greeted by their GM Varun and three girls who applied Tika on our fore head and gave us Himachali Topies. Rooms are very spacious. Food here is delicious and chef ANAND stands out, service boy Hirok was at his best.Their lawns are awesome so is their swimming pool . We got few procedures and messages done at their wellness centre and they are worth it. Dr Vivek , Dr Aksshay, sonia and Rahul were superb. All COVID 19 precautions were there and we felt safe. All the staff here is courteous…… but their GM Varun stands out ….. he can be seen everywhere. Thanks Team Suryavillas. We are definitely coming back

The four lane work is on, so there are bit bumpy patches in between, however if you are very keen to be with us, you can come through chandigarh to suryavilas via Nahan, this trail is scenic with breath taking views and a very smooth road from Nahan onwards and is average between chandigarh and Nahan,
