After an all day trip from Puerto Escondido we were delighted to arrive here. Nestled in a jungle setting, ochre walls, beautiful Mayan art, our Deluxe room was spacious enough to easily add a 3rd bed for our daughter. The delightfully helpful owner & staff made our brief stay a highlight of our journey through Mexico with advice on las...

Quinta Chanabnal is a rare and wonderful experience. Every detail reflects enormous thoughtfulness and care. The proprietors are true admirers of Mayan culture and their idyllic property reflects that fact. The beauty of the art and architecture, the wondrous attentiveness of the staff, the exceptional food and the lovely grounds add up to an experience of Palenque that can't be...

We stayed in a deluxe suite at Hotel Chanabnal for three nights. Our entire stay was absolutely superb. Our room was divine. There was a mini-bar in it and its contents were complimentary. The food and the staff were excellent. We were provided with a first-rate welcome by Will who gave us a tour of the facilities, one attraction of...

We stopped here for 2 nights after a long drive from San Christobel and were immediately welcomed with a refreshing drink into the magnificent thatched central building. Raphael was extremely hospitable as were his staff and we loved fact there are only 7 suites and the overall layout of the hotel. We managed to spot the small alligator in the...

We were visiting several of the Mayan sites, and it soon became apparent that Chiapas (the state of Mexico in which the sites are located) is not really Mexican at all, in that Aztec/Spanish fusion. Chiapas is part of old Mayan lands, and indeed it still is. There are more than 5m Mayans still living in this region, Guatamala, and...

Arriving to the Quinta Chanabnal after a three hour drive from San Cristobal was nothing short of extraordinary! It is a treasure waiting to be discovered that is located in what first appears to be a hidden corner of the jungle. All of the details matter here, and all is taken care of: the grounds are carefully kept; the rooms...

This is a lovely place to stay - lovely grounds and very nice rooms, swimming pools that provide welcome relief from the heat, great food, excellent service and howler monkeys! It's a destination in itself. It's a lovely place to rest & relax for a few days,, never mind being very close to spectacular Palenque. I wish I could have...

Spent three days with my wife and two toddlers. Had an amazing time: the staff is superb, as is the restaurant menu, the rooms, and the swimming pools. To top things off, two semi domesticated howler monkeys come to visit now and then! Definitely the right place to stay. Wish we could stay longer.

We had 2 rooms - the Presidential suite (large, comfortable, nice covered outside terrace & small plunge pool) & an upper grade room. All very well presented and real attention to detail by Raphael, the German Italian owner. Raphael is very knowledgeable about all things Mayan and a very good host. Service is friendly, helpful and calm. All nicely efficient....
