Beautiful, small, private 6 room inn with every detail thought out. Room was very tastefully decorated, spotless and offered spectacular views of St. Peter's Bay, even in January. The best part of our stay was our gracious hosts Barbara and Thomas. They manage to combine high end service with warmth and graciousness. We felt so welcomed in their home. The meals were prepared with fresh ingredients while we waited in the library in front of the fireplace. The highlight was the authentic Swiss fondue and we appreciated the time that Barbara and Thomas took to explain all the details of the dish. The chocolate mousse ice cream, there are no words to explain how delicious it was! We loved breakfast, not the routine bacon, eggs and toast, but a traditional European breakfast. Cannot recommend 45 Steps highly enough, a unique getaway that takes you on a culinary adventure. Thank you Barbara and Thomas!

We stayed at this hidden gem of a getaway by the ocean in August to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and felt relaxed the moment we arrived with the clean and tastefully appointed room with view of the ocean to seeing the hummingbirds in the feeders. Barbara and Thomas have set the bar high as hosts and still craving the homemade breads and jams we indulged in each morning. Extra special treat to be able to have a cuddle from their two pugs who are adorable. The beach was fantastic for collecting sea glass and the steps leading down gives you a bit of exercise.
This review is a bit late as I had written one when we returned but see that it did not get posted ( I think I forgot to sign in first). We would highly recommend staying at this fabulous Inn and hope to return again.

We celebrated (part two) our belated 25th wedding anniversary at 45 Steps Inn. When we honeymooned on PEI in 1996, we did so on a student budget and stayed at afffordable bed and breakfasts. We promised ourselves we would return and relive our honeymoon minus the budget.

We did part one in Halifax at the Muir in May and didn’t think we would match that stay on PEI for part two. We came across 45 Steps Inn before it opened and took a chance on booking without photos or reviews. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Everything about the stay was what we’d hoped for and more.

We stayed in the Tower Suite, which afforded us gorgeous ocean views for both sunrise and sunset. The bed was even comfier than our latex mattress at home. The sitting room was a lovely spot to relax and read a book. And the bathroom … words cannot describe the size or luxury of the room.

What made the stay extra special was the hospitality offered by Barbara and Thomas. We felt welcome and comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choices and was healthier than most. We opted to have dinner at the Inn all three nights. The food was just to our liking … simple ingredients with unique tastes. We enjoyed chatting with other guests on the deck while watching the sunset between courses.

The beach at 45 Steps was beautiful and quiet. We took beach chairs down and read while listening to the waves. We ventured into the water several times. It was comfortably warm in late August.

We often say we’d like to return - this time, we know we will!

Suite of over 1,000 sq ft was fabulous, with sunrise & sunset views, right on the ocean. This PEI northeast shore Inn is ideal for a getaway. 45 steps lead down to a mile long uncrowded sandy beach. Stay includes a European "continental" breakfast and dinner is also an option provided by the host Barbara to those who wish to dine in (nearest restaurants are 20 km away). Host Thomas enjoys serving local wines in the afternoon or to supplement dinner. This suite was the highlight of our trip to PEI

Barbara and Thomas and their wonderful assistants, Claire and Lisa, are truly the most wonderful inn keepers in the world. The inn is immaculate and beautifully curated. There isnt a detail that is not attended to with extreme care. The hotel is just steps away from the most beautiful beach in PEI. The inn itself is absolutely gorgeous and the attention to detail with which this place is cared for is extended to all of its guests. The open kitchen is spectacular and Barbara can always be found cooking up wonderful creations throughout the day. The living room and library are cozy and available for you to relax in, chat in, or just enjoy the ambience of a quiet inn on a unspoiled coastline. Breakfast is amazing and i am partial to the fresh breads and jams that Barbara takes care to make herself. In the evening, cocktails and wine are provided with quiet elegance and Thomas is a master at finding great wines that pair perfectly with the offerings for dinner. Everyone is so friendly you feel as if you cannot help but feel part of the family. I have now stayed there three times. The tower suite is by far my favorite but it really doesnt matter because all of the rooms are lovely and look out on the ocean. This is the most magical place i have ever stayed where peace and serenity surround the inn and its environs. I hate to share this treasure with the world because the more i share it the more booked up the inn becomes. However, it is truly a one of a kind place that everyone should be able to experience in their lifetime. I am grateful and thankful for everyone there and cannot wait until i can once again return to 45 steps.

We spent Easter weekend at 45 Steps and it was memorable for many reasons. The friendly hospitality of Barbara and Thomas, whose experience has helped them create a wonderful Atlantic/European ambiance and design. The beautifully appointed large rooms with restful hues of blue, green, tan and white, and a wall of patio doors facing a deck, lawn and the rolling sea. The extremely comfortable king bed with high end linens, and bathroom with heated floor and large glass rainforest shower. The gorgeous sea views from the dining room, comfortable library and sitting room. The modern comfortable furniture and lighting everywhere.

Our breakfasts were classic European continental with the added bonus of home baked goods to die for. We enjoyed one dinner there, and appreciated the good local food products. Our hosts have a sound model of offering a set menu each evening, but it was clear accommodations were made for guests who were vegan or gluten free. Our hosts’ attention to detail and thoughtfulness was on display at all times, right down to the Swiss chocolates bunnies on our breakfast plates. Thomas happily opened his wine fridges to help us pick the perfect wine for our tastes.

Situated about 45 minutes northeast from Charlottetown, near St. Peter’s Bay, the drive there and nearby is lovely, and the Nordic spa is only 10 minutes away. We cannot wait to return, hopefully with more family members. But the Inn is very successful and you must reserve early.

A great place to stay with incredible views and a wonderful beach. every detail thought off. Owners Barbara and Thomas were really thoughtful in every way and the rooms were nicely appointed - the view from laying on the bed overlooking the ocean was stunning.

My wife and I went to the Inn for a night of Escape. We partook in the three course meal that was offered and it was amazing! Barbara is a top notch chef and Thomas was able to pair a wine for each course for us. If you go you must do the supper! Barbara had no trouble working around my wife's dairy intolerance to provide us with an extraordinary culinary experience. We did go up to the main house for a bit in the afternoon and sat in the beautiful library and read for a bit while enjoying an adult beverage! They make you feel at home! The room was extremely comfortable and the views of the Atlantic Ocean and watching the sun set into the water while listening to the waves crash into the shore was amazing!

Thank you for the experience,
Sandra and Andrew

Everything about our stay at The 45 Steps was wonderful. The location is spectacular and matched by the quality and design of the public and private spaces. The view from our room was an ever-changing painting of ocean and sky.

The Inn was a perfect base to explore this small island during the day, returning late afternoons for sunsets and calm beauty, a delicious dinner and the Milky Way just outside.

Hosts and owners Barbara and Thomas were gracious, warm and kind without being intrusive in any way -true professionals. Thank You!

The 45 Steps is an undiscovered treasure, but that won’t last long. Everyone we met during our 5-night stay echoed our feelings that we will be back.
