Casa Reda is a delightful small hotel in a tiny hamlet in the Picos de Europa mountains in northern Spain. A wonderfully restored traditional house, with many interesting features in a beautiful setting.
The restaurant serves great local food and you are really made to feel welcome with the friendly service from Miguel and his family.
This is a great spot for walking, the birds are fantastic and the area is lovely. Staying here is a world away from bland tour-group hotels or expensive city boutiques.

The Picos de Europa National Park is a gorgeous mountain region and Casa Reda is a lovely family-run inn on the eastern edge, near the picturesque town of Potes. It is a few miles out of town, off the main road on winding (but quite navigable) road up to the small settlement of Vinon. The Reda family (the father Miguel, his wife, and his daughter, Elena) have exquisitely transformed this old estate building into a comfortable inn. The stonework is beautiful, the garden and plantings are lovely, and the views down the valley and to the hills beyond are gorgeous. The rooms are large and well-appointed. The Reda family is very helpful about the locality. You can begin hikes up into the mountains right from the front door. Breakfasts are enormous, and their restaurant offers afternoon snacks and full dinners. they will make up box lunches for hiking. We stayed for three nights, and it was the highlight of our two weeks in this region.

We stayed at the end of March with snow on the peaks of Europe and a temperature of 6 degrees.
We entered at five in the afternoon, and the radiators were warm, which they turned off at eleven and they offered us another blanket in case we got cold at night.
The next morning we left at eleven, with five degrees and the heating was still off.
Hot water is restricted to a temperature of up to 25 degrees.

We stayed for a few days with our three year old son a month ago at Casa Reda, just a few kilometers away from Potes, with breathtaking views, and peaceful, wonderful surroundings. The owners were really attentive, and provided with sumptuous breakfasts and dinners, as well as good recommendations for short walks around the hotel.
It has a small area for kids to play and beautiful terrace to watch the time go by.

Beautiful buildings in a stunning setting at the end of a heavily wooded valley, approximately 10 minutes drive from the nearest serviced village on the main road. The immediate area has numerous trails for walking, mountain biking and horse trekking. The highlights of our four day stay were the breakfasts on the sunny terrace overlooking the valley, watching a pair of eagles circling in the afternoons, the absolute silence (discounting birdsong & cowbells), and rambling in the oak and chestnut woods.

We had an attic four bed family room which was spacious, if low-ceilinged, and nicely equipped with a large bathroom. There is a living room for visitors which we did not use as the bar terrace overlooking the valley was so attractive. Breakfasts which were included in the room rate were simple and pleasant with good coffee. The menu for dinner/lunch is probably slightly overpriced.

The area and hotel were quiet in early June following some unseasonal poor weather. The local hub of Potes (20min. drive) offers adventure sports, guided mountain walks in the Picos etc. but we found enough to do locally. We drove from Santander airport, approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away. We aim to return to enjoy this special place.

Amazing old farmhouse, quiet, in the hills offering traditional fayre, breakfast on the terrace home prepared. Rooms clean ensuite and comfortable with good shower. Owners lovely but you need some basic Spanish and a smile to get by.

Fine old interesting building in great setting.
Abrupt host. Abysmal bed with thick plastic under sheet, nylon sheets & very thin uncomfortable mattress. Spartan room.
Dreadful overpriced dinner.
Avoid.

This little hotel is an absolute gem, situated near Potes and the Picos de Europas mountains. The inn itself is a charming, traditional house with spacious rooms, sitting areas, a restaurant, and a deck overlooking the the mountains. We loved dining on the deck, sipping our wine as the sun went down. The deck is just a few steps away from a cherry tree, ripe for the plucking in early July. Just down the hill we could see a flock of sheep amble by each evening. The hotel is a very short drive from the pretty town of Potes, and a short distance from a funicular, which will take you to the top of the mountains for a mind-blowing view. This is a hiker's paradise, but perfect also for loungers who just want to take in the scenery. The inn-keepers were very friendly and kind.

We were so lucky to have found this on TripAdvisor: a place within immediate reach of great mountain trails, small mountain villages, and some main towns. Our three nights here in June were completely idyllic. The patio where dinner and breakfast are served looks out over an imposing valley, with clouds rising and setting, birds, and a herd of sheep all making you feel like you're far away from civilization. The food (and wine) are terrific -- no need to travel the 7km mtn. road down to Potes (20 mins. away). The couple who own the place will make you a picnic to take up in the mountains and can steer you to all kinds of activities. Our room was clean and comfortable; the whole lodge made us feel like we'd found a total gem. And the price is quite low, considering. Although these factors did not affect our experience, there is no internet or wi-fi up at Casa Reda (you can always find it in Potes); there are two dogs in the front that, when chained, bark pretty viciously. But then you taste a cherry from their three trees and all those things dissipate.
