Spent two nights here to attend a friend's wedding; very nice hotel, in beautiful countryside. The wedding food was absolutely delicious, easily the best I've ever had. I stayed in the Oak Room, I believe, which was very big and comfortable, but had a lot of 'stuff' in it. I had to move a china pot off the windowsill every...

last Friday we held our 50th anniversary at The Upper House, what a good choice. the room was spotless, the staff were great and the ambiance was just right, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, they went out of their way to provide little things like a stand foe Julie to hang her wedding dress, Jokingly I asked if...

We attended a family wedding on 26/08/2016. Thanks to Holly the Wedding Planner it was a well organised and she was very attentive. Nothing was too much bother for her. It is a shame that the rest of the staff do not follow her example. The waiting staff handing out the canapes appeared to want to be elsewhere. The bar...

Stayed here for one night - we spent little time in the hotel but it was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, staff were rude and incompetent with the exception of the young man who initially greeted us. Basic customer service was amiss - no pleasantries and no interest in paying guests who were not attending the wedding taking place that weekend....

Took mum for an afternoon tea birthday treat. Absolutely beautiful place - the setting, the grounds were perfect! The staff were so welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food was fantastic and we left feeling completely full! Would recommend this as a treat and will definitely return.

The hotel has a grand panelled central hall and a fine view over the Trent Valley. It is very quiet ( but check for the many weddings!) and it is hard to realise that the Potteries conurbation is only a couple of miles away; also it is not far from the A34 and the M6. Bedrooms are being refurbished; mine...

Set in fantastic well maintained grounds that are a feature in itself Nothing is too much trouble. I dine here in a group twice a month and at other times The food is always excellent and promptly and efficiently served. Special considerations are always met in the same way. I have not stayed here but people tell me the rooms...

Booked a table for 5 to celebrate my mothers 85th birthday on 6th July 2016 in the small dining room at The Upper House, the room is very nicely decorated and set out. However the service was very poor, we had barely sat down when the waitress wanted our order, also with the table having a birthday balloon and being...

Booked for afternoon tea here for four to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed it - freshly cut finger sandwiches, beautiful cakes, followed by warm scones with jam and cream - tea and coffee was in plentiful supply - will visit again
