We arrived at Cockatoo near dark in early June. Carmen was waiting for us, and did not seem to be the least bit annoyed with our late arrival. She graciously led us to the Riverside Retreat, where our 10 year promptly projectile vomited as soon as she got out of the car. I assumed that Carmen would be worried that...

We had a fantastic time at Cockatoo Hill! My wife and I stayed for four nights. Our 'tree-house' was delightful, clean and comfortable with breathtaking views across the rainforest and down to the ocean. The gardens were immaculately maintained and, although it wasn't the best weather, the pool was so inviting we couldn't resist taking a dip most mornings. With...

My husband and I stayed for 1 week at the Cockatoo Riverside cottage during our honeymoon. We can't recommend this place highly enough! The house was perfect - beautiful, clean, comfortable; with everything we needed to cook for ourselves, which we both enjoyed. The grounds were stunning, and included our own idyllic rainforest pool! Our host, Carmen, was one of...

This fabulous property was the cherry on the top of our 3 week journey around Australia. As seasoned travelers we were blown away by the awe-inspiring views of the rainforest trees and ocean from our romantic tree house. The beautiful landscaping and quiet pool made for a very special experience for my wife and I and our two 18 year...

It certainly is everything other reviewers say - wonderful views, idyllic setting, peaceful and a wonderful host. But there were a few minor quibbles - it really needs fly (mosquito) screens - the mozzies were unbearable, the rooms are quite small and I missed the bird and animal interaction we had found in the Atherton tablelands. Carmen prefers not to...

Best holiday we have ever had. Carmen is a knowledgable and gracious hostess who is very giving of her time and expertise. This made our trip much more enjoyable as she directed us to the best things to see and do in the area. We stayed at the Riverwiew cottage which is totally private and very picturesque. Abundant with wildlife(...

We spent three wonderful nights at Cockatoo Hill Retreat. Each of the four tree houses has amazing views of an endless rainforest canopy with a view of a sandy beach in the distance. Coming from the city, this is a perfect getaway to relax in a majestic rainforest and waking up to the sounds of the rainforest every morning was...

There are only four treetop rooms which have views to the Pacific Ocean. Carmen, the owner lives on the premises and is always available for questions and suggestions. there is a lovely swimming pool and excellent breakfast with homemade jams. The Cape Tribulation area has many free boardwalks and trails. Daintree Village is a different location and does not offer...

We spent three nights here, and words can't describe the beauty of this location. Owner Carmen has so much knowledge of the local area and gave us directions to all the 'must see' sites in the Daintree. Breakfast was included in our rate every morning. We had organic cereals, fresh fruit salad, toasts and muffins with home made jams. I...
